Tige Boat feedback

Hello everybody. I am new to the forum and apologize for the generic introduction. I am not, however, new to wakeboarding and am looking at buying a Tige 22VE. My Sanger burned down (pic) below so I am in the market for a new ride I have been talking to the Tige dealer here in Rocklin and am really interested in the selling points the 2ve has, but I wanted feedback from those that already own them. The boat is obviously a good fit for me as far as recreaction, space, etc. But I also want big wake for boarding. I am debating at this point between a new 22ve, X-Star, or Super Air. So far the Tige is most appealing recreationally, but the Xstar and SAN are winning my battle for wakeboarding. Can you guys convince me otherwise? I appreciate any feedback in advance.

I have some good experience behind an 06 22ve and we have a 2006 24ve. First of all make sure your dealer is good, ask around and make sure they are. The wakesurfing wake on the 22ve will be great with some weight and people. The boat I ride in has about 1800lbs, 400's in the rear lockers, about 500lb integrated bow sac, and another 500lbs. in the walkway. Empty the side you aren't surfing on and move the people to side you are on.

The wakeboarding wake is very nice with weight. I don't care what Tige says, if you want a wake that even compares to an X-star or SAN (which usually have ballast) you will need weight. The more weight you put in the front the steeper the wake will be. Taps will help shape the wake, at 8 it will be steeper at the top, at 4 more of a mellow kick, and at 1 just a ramp.

Get the Tige speed set if you do end up going with a Tige. Our boat has it and it holds speed great, the 22ve I ride behind has it and it is horrible.

Heavy boat, handles chop better than any boat i've owned or driven (of this size)
Lots of storage, love the seating arrangement, love the 3 storage compartments at the transom.
Great performance/handling. Great wake with no ballast, awsome wake with weight. Good ski wake also!

We were sold on Tige @ the Feb. boatshow, but after putting this boat in the water, we didn't even drive any others.

I have had some minor 'bugs' to work out, but nothing is perfect. I still feel that we made the right choice! I plan on owning this boat for a long time .

If you decide on one of the others, I would like to know what the deciding facter was, I you dont mind!

The Ve has a great wakeboarding wake and an awesome surf wake.
Sorry to hear about your boat...looks like it burned up more than just the boat.

Check out my pics from last year's reunion to see some really good surf wake pics behind the Ve. We had no ballast and just 4 large guys, a couple of gals and 3 kids.

A couple of comments about the Tiges, their hull/stringer system is stronger and heavier than most. Consequently, their stock wakes tend to be a little larger than other boats, but you will want to add ballast as the others said.

As akdoc pointed out, the dealer is the difference. Here in Austin, TX, Nautiques are sold by Sail & Ski and I've never had a good experience with them. They've screwed up my jet skis and my previous boat. I have a friend who owns a SAN and he has never had a good experience with them either ever since moving here from Colorado.

The Tige will have waaaay more storage than a SAN. Mastercraft makes a nice boat, but I hate the new dash...not sure what they had in mind, maybe a motorcycle, but it doesn't work for me.

I looked at the Malibu wakesetter and had money down on a Mastercraft X-30. After talking with the Tige dealer (who also sells Nautique) and doing a lot of research on the various boats, I began leaning towards the Tige. I have a friend who owns the x-30, very rough ride. What I like about the Tige is how versatile it is. It is an awesome waterski boat and an awesome wakeboard boat. It also does very well on rough water.

If I were a hardcore wakeboarder and that is all I did, it would be a real close decision between the Malibu and the Tige. But, since my wife and I like to ski in addition to wakeboard and we wanted a boat that could handle large lakes such as Lake Powell, the Tige was the clear choice for us. Since your dad is going to be going in on it with you, my guess is that he would enjoy the Tige over any of the other boats.

Good luck with your decision, I don't think you can go too far wrong with the boats you are looking at, particularly the super air, but overall I think that you will be very happy with a Tige. If you do get one, I hope to hear more from you on the forum.

Take a test drive... that will probably make up your mind. Tige has a 98% closing ratio on the water.... try and find that with another brand. That should tell you something.

As for the wake.... As you've heard... add ballast if you want a truly huge wake. But don't go w/ Tige's factory ballast which is a hard tank option. You can order the boat already plumbed for Ballast from Tige... which I would do.... but then just add in your own sacs. Save yourself some work!

Awesome feedback guys. I really appreciate it. For the full story on the fire check out the link below, but long story short is I had an electrical fire in the garage about 3:30 in the morning, ripped the entire house, burned down my Jeep, my boat, and my 6 day old 2007 Chevy Tahoe. Lost everything, but thank god for State Farm and PIMP coverage!!!!

Personally I have only boarded behind a centurion and a tige. I love my Tige. Im a big guy 5'10 and 250lbs. I have a 22v and with no ballast taps set at 4, I can clear the wake no problemb at 21mph. I have a friend who owns a x star and has boarded behind my 22v. He said the wake is different but once he got used to it he liked it and was flying high into the flats. Other people have also liked it. And eveyone who Ive had in the boat love the way it rides in the choppy water. But take a demo ride on all your choices and let that make your mind up. After all your the one who has to be happy with your decission. Good luck and sorry to hear about your boat.

I have a 24V so I can't exactly comment, but do have some .02.

Sorry about the fire, I can't imagine the headache.

I have been behind an 2005 X-star and have to disagree that the stock wake with ballast is a lot bigger than my 24V. The thing I learned from the X-star is that I like a rampier wake. I had been putting my TAPS all of the way up for the steepest wake possible. So I hopped in my boat 5 minutes later and with the TAPS down some, had a rampier wake IN A FEW SECONDS. None of the other boats you are looking at can do that. The wake is clean whether it is steep or rampy. Tige's hull is designed for that, the plate on the back is not an afterthought.

The SAN 210 puts out a very steep wake that many wakeboarders love, but you cannot change it. The 22Ve is in another class completely in storage and interior room. If you are looking at the SAN 226, I thought the wake was mediocre for a fully ballasted boat. Please let us know what you think after you test drive the boats. The test drive also gives you some time with the dealer to find out what their character is and how they will take care of you after the sale, very important.

Pinched tower speaker wire, hole in gunwale did not line up w/hole in tower base. easy fix, human error.
The swival board racks that Tige is using are breaking, mine have been fixed. Alot of guys are ordering thier boats w/out tower and racks, and then buying one aftermarket, just a thought.
Intermittant problem with with the 'throttle by wire' system, have not fixed this yet, will leave w/ dealer at end of season.
Accu-set inop when we took delivery, took 5 min. to install new one.

Nothing has left us stranded, or kept us from enjoying the boat this summer. I spent 17 years in the automotive repair bussiness, I have seen countless cars roll of the transporter with problems. I understand that thing can break, I may be more forgiving than others becouse of this.

I did a lot of boat shopping last summer and into the fall. I also am a fairly serious wakeboarder and I was looking for wake size from day one. I test drove my Tige' and was almost sold on the spot. I also was seriously looking at a SAN (2001).

I knew the wake would be better with the SAN but I have a 3 and 5 year old and the bow on the SAN would have to be off limits due to it's very shallow seating. Every time that we went to the Tige' dealer to look at the boat we were so impressed at the depth of the seating.

I simply put life jackets on the kids now and do not have to worry about them falling overboard due to quick stops or turns.
