I've been thinking about ditching my AVX for a tap3 system for some time now. My dealer just replaced my tige touch with a new one that carries all the necessary software like the "surf" button with left and right switching. This might just be what pushes me over the edge. Don't get me wrong, the AVX is great. But adding the mission delta has really got me liking not having to list the boat. If I did the switch I could sell my AVX to make up some of the cost. Anyone care to talk me out of this? Has anyone actually had the dealer do this? Any idea what the cost is?

I have thought about this from time to time. The addition of the Taps 3 seems to be a little bit of a dealer whim if you can get it done. One thing the prevents me from doing it is the consistency of the AVX system. I see a lot of Taps 3 guys super happy with their setup, and some have to hunt a little for their wave. Good luck, I'll be following your journey if you do it!

Well My local dealer (no longer a tige dealer) basically tried to talk me out of it. But I've read enough about the switch to know what I'm getting into. I think the pros outweigh the cons. Any of you guys that have done this, I'd really like a ballpark cost. Feel free to PM me.
I've also heard that on the larger boats, like the RZ4, the AVX idea of extended the hull really doesn't have as drastic of a difference as it does on the smaller boats. I can't confirm if this is true or not. But it makes sense.BABz - babzusa.com

For a TAPS 3 conversion your looking at $3-3500.00 give or take.
It can be done, and yes Germaine can do the work. Its almost common practice now for them to do the work, as I have been in their lot and see a ton of boats have the taps 3 system that I know didn't come factory with it. The RZ4 is monster boat, I think you will be happily surprised at the difference. I haven't listed a boat or been on a listed boat in probably a full year and the though of doing it now just seems silly to me. Ditch the AVX and go Taps3!My life's journey is not ending up looking pretty, its sliding in broadside, used up, worn out, screaming "What a Ride"

Since I'm in Austin, is this something that could be shipped to me and installed myself?BABz - babzusa.com

I am not sure how that would work with the shipping especially with trying to integrate the system into your TT2 system. Nothing would change as far as your TAPS2 plate, that will be the same. Basically with the TAPS3 system you get the Tabs themselves, Lenco actuators, and the wiring kit. Where things get kinda tricky is the upper mounting location of the actuator. Without having the exact measurements of a fully stowed and fully deployed system from Tige you wont know where to mount the actuator either on the hull or swimstep and what angle it needs to be at.
I did a Go Surf Assist Install on a boat once already and Taps 3 would be a very similar install. A home install would take probably 10 hours for a first time installer, where it gets tough is how to install it into TT2.
PM me for more info, I can help make the connections with the right people Germaine that may be able to get you setup with DIY install kit.My life's journey is not ending up looking pretty, its sliding in broadside, used up, worn out, screaming "What a Ride"

We can sell the kit......Like we discussed.
Or you can buy from your dealer which you already mentioned said they can do it. The parts are roughly $2300.
Here is my cell if you want to go through Germaine.. 714-306-3999. The hard parts we have sitting and could ship it out to you rather quick.Last edited by Germaine Marine; 07-20-2017, 10:00 PM.Germaine Marine

Thanks for the info guys. My local dealer seemed to be more interested in getting me in a new non tige boat than helping me get the taps 3 on there. They also said the last boat they did a taps3 on was in the 8k range, which I knew wasn't true. I'm dealing with several other issues with them and tige that I won't go on about in this thread. I'm sure this is due to them dropping the tige brand. For that reason I'm not too hot on dealing with them for this. I have no doubt I could do the instal if I had some accurate instructions. That being said, I'm not too far from both Texas Tige & Eagle Marine. Theres also another new dealer I've never heard of, Bay Marine, thats popped up about 45 minutes from me in Marble Falls. I shot all three an email.
Elevated, thanks for the cell. I will probably give you a ring or text sometime soon about all this. I would think shipping would be a bear. But it might be cheaper in the long run then trying to trailer the boat to another dealer. I'm about 90% sure I'm going through with this. I'll keep everyone posted on here as to how this all ends up.BABz - babzusa.com
