Rear compartment wall shift with full ballast

Anyone else have problems with the inside walls of the rear compartments collapsing towards the engine when their ballast bags fill. I've got a '15 Z1 with the Surf XL configuration and on both sides, the inner compartment wall flexes enough to jump out of the groove on the floor then make its way toward the engine.

Has the newer models changed their design to solve this issue? Any photos of any newer models or how you designed braces or stiffeners would be helpful as I figure out the best way to solve the problem.

BTW, here's the obligatory boat photo too.

Thanks in advance for any ideas / pics!

Yes. All the time. The rear walls too. I need to rebuild this winter.

If anyone has some recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

Yes, you have to strengthen the walls. Use aluminum c-channel running up and down and thru-bolt. Wakemakers has a "kit" too I believe...but you can just buy the materials at Lowes or Home Depot

Yup, one of my worst peeves on this boat('13 Z1). Happens every trip out.

Not only adding c-channel to prevent flex but get c-channel to put on the floor would help. Stick the side panel in it.

                These worked great on my '15 Z3. You'll need (2) Kits. https://www.wakemakers.com/engine-di...nel-saver.html

If you're going to DIY, keep in mind the hardware you use cannot be sharp, or you'll puncture the bags.

Then you've placed them on the wrong side of the wall. You want them on the engine side, not locker side.

I was wondering the same thing if anyone else was having this same problem. My 15z3 does it all the time.

Yeah, mine used to do this all the time. I have a 15 Z3 with Surf XL. My bro in law works at a fab shop so I just got two pieces of 1" aluminum angle iron cut just shy of the channel the divider sits in on the floor and the metal bracket above, centered 1 pieced vertically between the back seat and transom on the divider, drilled some pilot holes through the divider into the angle iron then used half a dozen self tapping screws on each side. Super light and I've been out a dozen times or so since with no issues now. I'll post up some pics tonight when I get home.

Thanks for everyone's input, ideas, link, and the photo (Bubba08). Looks like a small DIY project should take care if this....

Yeah. Literally took me 30 minutes including the time to pull the dividers out and put them back in the boat. Ill get you a better pic or two tonight.

Wasn't referencing the C Channel, but in fact, the bolts heads.....
