      I have the 400 , mine was actually the cat converters on both banks

        Mine is a '17 440, the O2 sensors went within the first 30 hours....Boat was built during Sept '17.

          Just did a search for the STFT 2 hi code in the forums and came up with this thread, same as what I had happen yesterday. Beeping indicator and the check engine light. From the brief length of this thread it seems as if this is a common issue, hopefully not re-occurring one. Anyone been told of a route cause of this, or is it just poor sensors? Keeping in mind that mine may be different, it has yet to be checked by dealer, trying to co-ordinate this now without having to tow the boat home. Z3 LKG, did Bills Marine take care of this for you?

            Man, whoever thought that CATs and o2 sensors on boats was a good idea, but be a DC politician No matter the engine marinizer, seems they are all fighting CAT issues and o2 codes. Im wondering if the engines run a little too much to the rich side and the CATs dont get hot enough, leading to the repeated failures. Is it water? CATs and o2's are nto new technology, but boat engines dont run quite the same road vehicles.

              I posted on another thread earlier, but have seen this problem on three boats now. The gasket and alignment of cat manifolds where it meets exhaust manifold didn't wind up perfect from the factory on some motors. This in turn is leading water to get sucked back down into exhaust side (where there should be no water) and pulling water across o2 sensors and back thru the cats. Two others have lead to a heater open/lazy code, but sometimes it causes wide band to think it's bank is running super lean so it riches up fuel mix by lengthening injector pulse time.
              Easy enough to confirm. Pull the wideband 02 and look into exhaust manifold. If it looks wet and rusty on a new motor it's pulling water from y pipe all the way down.
              Haven't had a chance to ask indmar but I can't figure out how there's that much vacuum due to bad gasket alignment to pull water back that far.

                  We have been telling people after they surf to run the boat in the upper RPM range for a little bit...... No idea if this will help the sensor issues but I was told it would.

                    I was told the "hot lap" is actually to dry the cats off vecause so many of them were installed incorrectly , and had the water coming from exhaust.

                      I wonder if there is a relation between the gasket leak at the cat and the heavy amount of steam from the exhaust that many Raptor owners report. I have never thought that my 15 has more exhaust steam than any other boat I have owned and I have never had a cat or 02 issue.

                        I'm hesitant to post this, because I don't know if this is an apples to apples problem for the OP.

                        Since dewinterization, my '15 Z3 Raptor 400 was popping a different code (I think a 3266) every 3-5 minutes after battery reset. Long story short, after a lot of time spent by a very good mechanic at Performance LOZ, it seems the code was recorded/categorized wrong by Indmar. There are upper and lower sensors banks. The code was indicating issues with functioning set, not the faulty set. So we killed months getting diagnostics done to "re-calibrate" the functioning sensors, the mechanic meeting me at a local marine with a laptop to clear codes, me writing a letter to Indmar and finally getting the correct set of O2 sensors which Performance came to my dock to install. Knock on wood, I've run about 3 weeks without popping the code again. I know I'm not the only boat out there that was suffering with this issue (hence a previous poster's comment about their dealer having a stack of O2 sensors) and it was very frustrating.

                          Yes, I agree. Cats have no place in marine engines. I'm all for cleaner and doing my part, but the simple concept of a converter is to generate heat, and the the boat engines only run around 160 degrees, as compared to automotive running at 215 & higher. I'm sure all the companies aren't happy about it just simply trying to comply with federal regulations. I wonder if there will be a way to by pass all of this stuff and have some sort of controller put in place to mimic the operation of all 4 sensors?

                              Yes I agree, Bill is great and very on top of things. I am meeting him at the Gaston shop tomorrow morning and he is bringing sensors with him to be prepared to replace them if that is what is needed. See you out on the water hopefully Saturday afternoon. That new RZX you have is a beast by the way, how is the surfing behind it?

                                Got it checked out Saturday morning, and there is water in the left side manifold. That sensor was wet upon removal. So the riser elbow needs to be replaced on mine. I saw where a few of the others needed these. I hope Indmar has made some quality improvements to these, this is not something I want to have to continually replace over the years, esp once out of warranty.
