10 people in a 20v is pretty crowded.

If you really want 10 people, you should be looking at 23ft boat. 10 is barely comfortable in my 24fter...and its "rated" for 16

95% of the time it is just my family of 5. When we would have 10, there would be 7 on the boat, and 3 on a tube. When we would start doing surfing and wake boarding, it would probably be 7 kids and 3 adults. I just want to have the option as we are replacing our boat and one of the things that made it on the list is seating capacity for a minimum of 10.
I think that I agree and would need at least a 21-24' boat.
On this site it says most of the 22's are rated for 11, is this true?
            Thank you

My family of 5 was VERY comfortable in our 21v. We went up to 6 adults and 6 kids/youth a few times. I wouldn't want to do it every time, but there was a seat for everyone and it really wasn't an issue.

Our 2200v worked great for 4 adults and 8 kids on occasion. We usually went out with 6-8 people and it was just fine. I can tell you though that capacity does not equal how many should really be in the boat for a good time. Our Z3 is rated for 16 and I would not want to do anything but ferry people out to a beach or cove with that many onboard. Typically, 2 in the bow, 2 up front, 2 in back and a couple more scattered about is all I really like in a 23 foots. You can do the same in a 20 footer as well...it's just a little more cramped.

Also, more people = more bags, life jackets, wetsuits, drysuits, sleeping bags, inflatables, equipment, food, ropes, boards etc.

I would pass on that 20 footer. You will find it cramped and any money you put into it for updates, etc. will be lost. For your budget, I would be looking at the Tige 2300v as well as the early 2000--ish Malibu 23 LSV. Those should be in your budget, have depreciated pretty much as much as they are going to and will fit your family, friends and all the junk you bring with you on the lake.

Yes, you should run away. All the little things wrong with that boat show how it was treated. It was never loved. It was just a tool for the family to go out and thrash on. Rode hard and put away wet. Is that really what you're looking for?

FWIW, we spend a lot of time with 4 adults and 4 children in a 21v. It's perfectly comfortable for a day on the water. You could put two more people in no problem. I would think you'd get kinda sick of it after a while though. I'm not sure a 20v would be quite as flexible. The bow is really tiny.

I have a 99' and love it. But I will tell you right now with low hours and that price you're going to spend a lot more on the repairs because it wasn't run and no time for play time!

Mevs27 I know that's the general rule that a older boat with low hrs on it will have problems or has potential problems since it has sat to long.... but I bought my 99 21V 3 yrs ago with 110 hrs on it and now have over 250 and I have had some issue such as Batteries, Replace idler pulleys and a couple other things I have fixed but overall everything has been great. Maybe and most likely I could be the exception.

It was clear when I bought my boat how well the boat had been maintained inside and out so I felt like the engine had been maintained as well. (Now that I wrote this thread I'll blow a head gasket or something bad )

I really do appreciate all the input.
I think we are leaning towards a 22-24' Tige.
I heard that the best deals to be had typically are after labor day here in the Midwest?

I was the previous owner of the one from Dayton and sold it to a member on here (Yojax). If you have any questions about that boat let me know...the trailer is actually a 2016 bought by me brand new from Modern Marine, not a 2015 like he has in the post. The reason for the new engine was due to a faulty block on the previous engine and was replaced with new one under warranty by Modern Marine (Cincy Tige Dealer). I also had the exhaust manifolds replaced while the boat was torn apart. You are basically getting a brand new engine. Over this past winter, Adam glassed the floor of the boat and ordered a Deckadence style flooring and also rewired the entire boat so it's not Tige's standard rats nest....it has MLA's custom enzo sac with auto ballast installed last year. The tower is only two years old and it has an ACME 1433 prop with the original 537 in an ACME weekend saver kit

Anyway, can't speak for the other boats but I would highly recommend giving Adam's boat a look becauase it's literally turn key and ready to surf for a long time!
