I think that I agree and would need at least a 21-24' boat.
On this site it says most of the 22's are rated for 11, is this true?
Thank you

Our 2200v worked great for 4 adults and 8 kids on occasion. We usually went out with 6-8 people and it was just fine. I can tell you though that capacity does not equal how many should really be in the boat for a good time. Our Z3 is rated for 16 and I would not want to do anything but ferry people out to a beach or cove with that many onboard. Typically, 2 in the bow, 2 up front, 2 in back and a couple more scattered about is all I really like in a 23 foots. You can do the same in a 20 footer as well...it's just a little more cramped.
Also, more people = more bags, life jackets, wetsuits, drysuits, sleeping bags, inflatables, equipment, food, ropes, boards etc.
I would pass on that 20 footer. You will find it cramped and any money you put into it for updates, etc. will be lost. For your budget, I would be looking at the Tige 2300v as well as the early 2000--ish Malibu 23 LSV. Those should be in your budget, have depreciated pretty much as much as they are going to and will fit your family, friends and all the junk you bring with you on the lake.

FWIW, we spend a lot of time with 4 adults and 4 children in a 21v. It's perfectly comfortable for a day on the water. You could put two more people in no problem. I would think you'd get kinda sick of it after a while though. I'm not sure a 20v would be quite as flexible. The bow is really tiny. You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Mevs27 I know that's the general rule that a older boat with low hrs on it will have problems or has potential problems since it has sat to long.... but I bought my 99 21V 3 yrs ago with 110 hrs on it and now have over 250 and I have had some issue such as Batteries, Replace idler pulleys and a couple other things I have fixed but overall everything has been great. Maybe and most likely I could be the exception.
It was clear when I bought my boat how well the boat had been maintained inside and out so I felt like the engine had been maintained as well. (Now that I wrote this thread I'll blow a head gasket or something bad )

Anyway, can't speak for the other boats but I would highly recommend giving Adam's boat a look becauase it's literally turn key and ready to surf for a long time!Last edited by BurnMac42; 08-28-2017, 12:49 AM.
