WE put both of our customs in the rear surf locker. It works as advertised and hasn't caused any harm whatsoever, and that was even in big water out on Powell. The non skid is in the right spots and after our sets, we even toss our comp vests in there for extra padding in between the two boards.

If my Denali is too loaded down, we even toss the boards (in their bags) in the surf locker for the trip to/ and from the lake.

My thoughts exactly. The functionality of the '17+ bimini is amazing.

My buddy with a G always has issues with his rattling loose during transport, even while folded in its cover and he doesn't tow very far. I towed 48 hours round trip with the bimini in its plain zipper bag, and it was in perfect condition.

surprised they kept the 360 and didn't upsize to 400 at least

I agree. Given that the newer motors are rated in torque instead of HP, the additional torque may be beneficial. According to the Tige site, the 360R is rated at 365 lb-ft torque and 308 HP

If you look back at the specs of the PCM EX 343 which was the base in the Z3 not too long ago, it is rated at 430 ft-lb torque and 343 HP

I may be missing something, but I wonder if that motor may be a bit weak for the R23, especially for the folks running at elevation.

I would like to assume that Tige has done their homework on this and it will perform fine. Maybe the opted away from the normal 537 prop and include a prop upgrade to get better performance...or, maybe they are moving over to the 2:1 tranny. If so, they should be good.

This is a very beautiful boat. I really like the color combination. Did they remove the cupholders from the bow as part of the cost savings?

I consider the 440 marginally great in the Z3. With that boat, you will have to run the 2419 prop and it will be a one trick pony surf boat. It will do that very well though.

I have one of those PCM 343 motors and have never felt it was under powered. I can't see how a Gen II Chevy small block (5.7L) can beat out a new raptor 6.2L by 65 TQ and 40HP. That doesn't make sense to me. They must intentionally be crippling it.

I have the indmar 350 and a 1235. No issues pulling weight while surfing at all. I would think the raptor 400 would be stronger.....

I would hope the selling dealer sales rep would make sure to recommend the ideal engine option for where and how the boat is used. Same with props.

Let's see....$80-85K for that essentially new 16 Z3 in the classifieds vs $120-130K for a new RZX2. 2016 Z3s are, flat out, one of the best deals on the water bang for buck. Took some buddies out the other day and they wanted to surf...so I threw the lead and ballast bags back in. Forgot how big of a wave it makes.

Frankly...I think $65-85K seems like about what we should be paying for boats. People with money tend to disagree though, so we are what we are. That said, I am happy for $130K and escalating boats. First, it keeps the number of boats on the lake lower. Second, it keeps my boats value higher. I swear, there has been almost no depreciation on 2000-2007 boats over the past 8 years.
