RZX3 owners or people familiar with the boat

Hey guys, looking for some feedback here. Looking to u/g from my Z3. Can not find much out there as far as boat reviews go and what not on the RZX3. I am looking to see how it compares to the G23, mainly surfwake, but also in other areas also if you want to share your experiences. I don't care much for wakeboarding or skiing just surfing. Please let me know. Thx in advance.

edit: if the RZX2 wave is better than the RZX3 please let me know.

You are going to run into some conflicting opinions here.

I have significant time in all three and my nod goes to the Rzx2. Rub rail is higher which means you can slam it deeper, narrower at the bottom means it rocks over a little easier, and its running surface despite being a foot shorter is nearly identical.

I would say the 3 and 2 are nearly identical.

Some people are getting some splash off the hull while surfing (I havent experienced it yet) in the 2

Surf wave for Surf wave vs the G and I go Tige.

Tige is my choice based on price point/budget and looks

G would be my decision based on craftsmanship and if I wasnt a sticker for looks/value and wave.

    CC finished product is wonderful...

Go ride both and see them in action and make sure to spend a lot of time on each. I never thought I'd consider a G23 until I spent 4 hours on one last week and must say it is everything they say it is on PN. Was very impressed with factory ballast surf wave weight it was insane large with a ton of push an plenty of pocket. Have ridden an RZX3 several times also that was factory weighted then one with 1200 additional lbs and the RZX3 wave was insane with the additional weight, but you will lose rear locker storage.

Know you said you didn't care about other sports but have to say the G with factory or out of the box setup on wakeboard at 23mph the wave was insane clean on both sides, seems the RZX3 washes a bit on the port side. Slalom wave was way better behind the G also IMO at 33 to 34.6mph. Tow point is higher on the G for slalom or tubing which is nice as it won't drag the rope. The stock G motor with the 17" prop is insane and plenty even when full ballasted for wakeboard speeds. The G handles large chop much better and we had no spray at all or even close when doing any sport on it.

As elevated said the G is bad to the bone but the price is a lil high. Another thing to consider is the G has hard tanks underneath so no need to worry about a bag failure that will sink your boat or ruin your engine! I prefer the interior of a Tige and if G had the upholstery a Tige does I must say I'd be very interested in one.

Again ride em both and see what fits your needs and budget! Good luck and remember a good dealer is worth its weight in gold also when choosing brands!

As far as RZX2 wave it will be better for surf then your Z3 if you get the plug and play and will have similar interior space as your Z3 for 20k more so to me its not worth it.

The G boats do have bags under the floor. Even many Nautique owners are not aware of this.

I agree that dealer is important. Many new boats come from the factory with flaws. I tend to think it is less with Nautique, but it happens to all of them, whether we like it or not. That alone is a complex subject as to why boats cannot have the same reliability that cars do. But when you start having problems on the 4th of July, you want a dealer that can get you in and out of the shop in a reasonable time. When shopping, roam over to the service department and observe what is going on there.

I like that you can just pull the G out of the box, hit the surf button and have a pretty great wave. It is sort of interesting to observe the recipes of ballast and TAPS adjustments that guys go through to find the perfect wave on the RZX; it gets complicated. But you have more adjustability with a TAPS 3 system, which is a different advantage.
          Be excellent to one another.

ALL the brands are having some QC issues on new boats. I have been looking around the PN forum quite a bit lately....and there are lots of issues there too, many of them mention the G23, but that is probably cause that is their most popular boat. Tige obviously has had some things happen...and with Centurion is seems less QC and more 1st gen issues that need to be dialed in....but still issues. Seems like everyone has dropped the ball a little on GC in effort to make more boats.
Its why dealer experience is so important and likely why some end up being very successful and other only last a couple years. Its good that all the big brands have the 5yr warranties and likely what makes people more comfortable to take that plunge. With hand made boats, you pretty much HAVE to expect that there will be some bugs that will have to be worded out, if you don't you have blinders on...so just go in with your eyes open.
When I get my next new boat and UG....will likely get a new leftover cause it tends to have some of those bugs worked out...or at least you know what the bugs are gonna be from seeing the posts the previous summer (not to mention saving the depreciation hit on the 1st year, which is always the worst).

The G salesman told me there were bags, but that they were inside of hard tanks and they were enclosed in compartments in under belly of hull on the newer models but still easy to access if repairs were needed. Maybe he was stretching the truth or didn't know what he was talking about, but seems they have made another preventative step to prevent water issues if a bag were to rupture.

Being inside of 'hard tanks' would be a bit of a stretch. It is true they are inside of hard compartments, but they are not sealed, like a tank would be. When you get a bag leak, it still ends up in the bilge. The belly bag for instance, can be seen when you remove the subwoofer.

                  OP,

We traded our Z3 for RZX3 last year and love the change/ upgrade. If you truly appreciate a solid surf wave, the RZX2 and 3 will have a better wave than the G series. More manipulation with Taps 3 than NSS and has Tige's firm wave with a smooth transition that ends with an ocean like curl! We wouldn't give up the surf locker on the RZX3 for anything, and the few extra inches of added freeboard. With the 2 and 3 so close in price and the 3 having the 440 motor, it was a no brainer. The 2 will squat easier and likely with a few less lbs, so depending on your normal crew size, the choice should be clear.

Good luck in your search and feel free to reach out. We just turned 80 hours on our 2017 RZX3, so its being put to work!

u guys honestly think the RZX wave is better than the g23 wave??

how long do you think the rzx2/3 will be around? They had the asr, that didn't stick around for long, they had just the rzx not the rzx2 or rzx3 just the RZX that was only around for about a year right? and now we have the RZX2 and RZX3. quick turn around on these models also?

I can't speak the G23 wave, but the RZX evolved to the RZX3 and then they added the RZX2.

The ASR I am sure laid the base design for the RZX, but the hull design is totally different. The ASR just didn't surf well, but it was a great wakeboard boat I hear.

Seems like the RZX line will be around for a bit.

The rzx is just the older version of the rzx3, it's exactly the same boat.

So the RZX and RZX3 are exactly the same, and I mean exactly the same, the same hull and everything, or the RZX evolved into the RZX3 which would indicate there would be slight changes at least...??

so would you consider the RZX2 an u/g from the RZX3??

The main reason it evolved into the rzx3 was that they soon after came out with the rzx2. Yes, there are some small differences like touchscreen and tower but same surf system and same hull on rzx to rzx3.
