    06 21i speedometer / warning issue

Bought boat last year, didn't get into the gauges much, but worked fine at end of season, launched yesterday (I know, been crazy busy) and have these issues:
With ignition on, have a "chirping" sound under dash. So quick it's almost a click. About 3 times per second. Got under there but can't isolate it.
Speedo, (Faria multi function w/ depth finder) not working, and don't think it's the paddle wheel.
Digital readout below speedo displays varying number of digits, but all are "blacked out." Not able to discern anything.
M button and up / down buttons seem to have no effect.

Sent email to Faria, any ideas from you pros?

I would start with batteries....try it (battery switch)on each battery individually and collectively. See if there is a difference. I had a repeating beeping alarm, not as quick, that was a battery on the fritz. Good luck.

No luck there. Now the problem is intermittant, about half of the time. It works perfectly sometimes, speedo, depth finder, no warning. Sometimes none of it works, with warning, sometimes without.

Getting power at all times, digital readout is active. When not working the digits are "blacked out," unreadable. Varying numbers of digits. Unplug the top connector to the gauge, and disconnects power to the gauge.

Make sure you don't have a loose ground somewhere, perhaps do a direct ground from the speedo to test it. It could explain it coming on and off. I have my original 2006 speedo from my 24v if you need to test with it and/or replace the unit, I changed mine to a GPS Perfect Pass. I bet it is the same speedo. It is in AZ but I will be there later this week.

Did you figure out the problem? I have the same issue, but it is not intermittent. It happens EVERY TIME!
