I honestly haven't had time to go in for a closer look. But I will say since I didn't do the instal, I have no idea what has fallen off as far as washer or rubber gaskets/sleeves. I will be sure to check all this out when I get home. I will say Larry is very high on customer service. So I imagine he will make all this right.
Larry has always addressed any of my issues. I've installed 3 now and only mine (very early model) has had any issues. They were simple and effective fixes.
The FAE on my 2015 Z1 with taps 3 looks the same as the pictures posted, They send 2 half moon keepers that go over the flange with the slotted holes that is welded on the end of the pipe, that complete assembly screws in place of the flapper at the hull. In this design they done away with the rubber sleeve and the hose clamps. I had some issue with the things getting loose the first couple of times out, I believe I shortened the all thread bracket a bit and it has been good since.
Anybody know offhand what size the clamps are for the RZR FAE exhaust? I've had one for about 4 years with minor setbacks, slid out of the boot once, had an all thread support break once, and recently lost a connecting pin. I like the idea of the automotive exhaust clamps but my boat is stored in TN and I live in OH.
FAE replaced the all thread and pins are cheap. It's all worth having it in my opinion.
I got an FAE for my 24V and have had no issues to date. I did some some brass collars though so that the support braces that bolt to the taps hinge are at the correct angle once connecting to the FAE base. This seemed to strengthen up the entire design much more than mounting the support brackets directly to FAE (at a more aggressive angle upward). Also, this might go without saying but be sure to tighten up all clamps with a socket and not a common screwdriver. I had a couple of loose clamps my first time out and noticed the force of the water pushed the FAE down pipe back away from the transom a bit (but I didn't loose anything). Since I have torqued all clamps down after first use I haven't had any issues.
Thanks Unstuck. This is a great observation. The photo is a little deceiving and the bottom nut was not all the way tight at this point. The bolt and nut are actually pretty straight because I cut the angle on the brass collar to guide/keep the bolt straight. I had the same thinking you had about what the force of the water might do. Of course I have only had this installed since January so time will tell how well it holds up.
Just wanted to update everyone on this. I dropped my FAE over with Larry last Friday and picked it back up yesterday. He updated a lot of the pieces free of charge. It looks brand new. I will get some pictures up when I have a chance to reinstall it. I would encourage anyone who's having problems to contact Larry directly. They stand behind their product and have been nothing but helpful.
