Tige Boat Covers, trailable?

I have an 08 RZ2, Came with a boat cover and the way it ratchets down I would thing you can tow with it but just want to make sure.
What does everyone else do when trailering? Cover or no cover.
This would be driving a distance not like 10 miles.

The kind people drive with are normally the black stretchy ones that button to the boat. I've seen some Tiges have them, buttons were maybe an option. These tapes or covers are tight and form fitted. Mine is one that uses straps also and that will flap in wind abs cause more damage then it would ever prevent

My dealer recommended to not drive considerable distance with the cover on. As mentioned above, it can flap some in the wind and rub or cause damage.

It depends. Does your cover have a white fleece type material on the inside to protect it from rubbing on the gel?

I used to drive with a cover on but it was an older boat that was mostly white. I tried with my current boat (blue) and it left rub marks I need to buff out. It also did not handle 30mph crosswinds at all. Turned into a giant sail and was lucky to get it off before it ripped apart.

So now I don't tow with the cover on. I might consider it for a really dirty/slushy drive (think mountain pass after a snowstorm where the car gets caked in a dark, dried on dirt)...but then again, I don't think I would tow in those situations if possible.

In short....don't tow with a cover if you have a newer boat with a solid, darker color that the cover would rub off on. Some people of course tow for years this way and have no problems.....that was me until last march.

According to the paper for my mooring cover that came with my 2017 it is towable with speeds up to 65mph......this thing will ratchet down TIGHT....it moves less than my Evolution Cover did...the one thing I do though is I put a small towel between the boat and the two ratchets....there is a plastic piece that keeps the ratchet from directly touching the boat but I felt the clothe would be better....this far no marks

If it's not raining then definitely cover off.

The only time I tow with my cover one is due to potential weather. I just wrap the two buckles I have on mine with an old t-shirt or rag so it doesn't rub. I'll also wrap a towel around the tower legs to catch any water that slides in or wrap the tower legs with a shrink wrap. Otherwise never had an issue.

Some people will say to never tow with the cover on and that it's easier to just wipe the inside of the boat down if you are in the rain. I highly disagree, that dirty rain water gets everywhere inside.

Rain or shine it gets covered for me. Never have had issues with any of the new boats at any speed.

I'm assuming it depends on what cover you have. I always tow with the cover on and have had no issues with my z3. I did have a few issues on my 2008 22ve. it seemed to rub on the sides of the boat. the cover rides up a little but for the most part rides very good and i've pulled it down the interstate at 80 mph. I'm still not sure if you are supposed to tow with the rain strap in the center of the boat up or down. My dealer always tows with it up but I've also heard that the covers are designed to suck down into the boat. I leave it down because it seems like less stress. Besides keeping the interior dry and clean I think it protects the windshield from rock chips.

I always cover. My stern cushions are loose and I do not want to lose them. And I keep boards and kids stuff on the floor while towing

I wish I had taken a video of the sail mine turned into with that crosswind. I had my 16 y/o daughter on the sun deck , holding onto the guide pole so I could get it off. Even then, it was still lifting. Granted, unless your towing through Wyoming, Texas pan handle or similar you probably won't see that though. Just watch it when the crosswinds are cranking.

10 miles No Cover

50 miles ALWAYS ON.

I have blue boat and never had an issue with rubbing on my gel, though mine does have the fleece material around most contact points on the boat.

In Short I hate cleaning bugs off the boat when I get to the ramp, so I go with the cover TO the lake.

Going AFTER the lake AWAYS OFF to let dry.

For a longer trip, you could take pallet wrap, or similar, and wrap the hull of the boat where the cover sits. You may also consider wrapping the tower and any tower accessories to make clean up when you arrive easier.

If you do, learn from my mistake, and do not wrap over the fuel vent. We had our boat hauled from TN to MN and I shipped the sell the wrap and he did as I asked, wrapping the boat where the cover sits. He also get it would be kind to send it full of fuel (nice thought, which I appreciated). I never gave thought to the fuel coming out the vent. When we got it, fuel was between the hull and wrap and even a bit on the cover from it seeping up. A good wash and wax took care of it, but would not have been needed.

So, my advice, for what it is worth:
1: Don't transport full, fuel when you get there
2: Wrap the hull along the line where the cover sits, but make sure the fuel vent is not covered.

A word of caution if this is an older cover. The older covers are not like the 2012+ covers. When I worked for the dealership I saw many of the older covers shred when people tried to tow with them. If this is an original cover from 08, I would not suggest towing with it for any distance or at highway speeds. Unless of course you've been trying to convince the wife you need a new cover with no luck. Then tow away!!!
