Just wanted to follow-up on how the boat is running with the 5.7 vs 6.0. In a word, great! I actually think the boat runs better with the 5.7. Very impressed with the hole shot (the prop was replaced to match the engine).
Have over 25 hours on it now, so the 20 hour service has been done and everything is going well. The 6.0 didn't always start on the first turn of the key, but the 5.7 does.
Barry at Skiers Wharf Extreme did a great job installing the engine: very professional looking, all clamps lined up, no garbage in the bilge, etc. Much better than the factory job on the 6.0.
I wish I would have had this engine from the start. My first Tige experience would have been much better. But I have learned a lot and now know what it means to have a quality dealer.

I thought someone said that there was a relatively easy workaround for this problem...something about moving the fuel lines away from the engine? Am I thinking of another problem altogether?Be excellent to one another.

There's always issues with boats...they're not like cars. Your dealer really stepped up and now he's got a loyal customer. My dealer's been pretty good to me, so it's easy for me to recommend my friends.Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."

Brent glad to hear you got a new motor installed within a matter of weeks. Not to be down on SWE but I wish Joe would come down to his NW Ark branch and take care of this customer who has a 06 22ve with both board racks now broken off for the entire season on a known issue. Previous thread here. http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3960
I just spent 12 hours on the 4th with 12 people in the boat and boards hitting everything and everyone in the boat. That was with dropping boards off depending on who was riding.
Luckily the second board rack to break off didn’t hit anyone in the boat either.
Still waiting for racks 2 and a half months later. Not sure if it’s a Tige or SWE issue. Just wish I had the racks I paid for.

BobbyD, from what I have been told, Tige is replacing problematic 06 rakes with 07 racks. Chpthril has received 07 racks so far but I am currently in the same boat as you regarding this issue. However, I am only at .5 months with dealing with this problem. Need to call my dealership today to find out more information. I would suggest that you and your friend do the same thing. Harass the dealership.

Yeah. It is me that is dealing with the issue. They first said tige was re-making the 06 rack. That was the first month and a half. Now that the second has broken off it is a real issue just for the boat use. Not to mention the issue with the danger it poses for passengers on the boat.
I pointed out the issue to the dealer at Skiers Wharf Extreme before the first on broke off. They were working on getting a replacement while the other side broke off.
I think Tige would have known the racks were an issue back April of 2006 when chpthril posted a good diagram of the bolts being too short. http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2120
On harassing the dealer that is the reason for posting on this thread. It is the same dealer that Brent was able to get a new F'ing engine in a couple of weeks while I wait over two months on board racks to be replaced after almost hurting passengers in my boat with a known issue at Tige HQ's. I don't get it. I bought this boat new from them.Last edited by BobbyD; 07-05-2007, 06:31 PM.

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to give an update. It has been over 2 seasons now and the 5.7 has been flawless. Starts every time and runs strong. I haven't noticed any difference in pulling power vs. the 6.0.
This really is a testament to the job that Barry and the guys at Skiers Wharf Extreme did on the engine swap. No issues and the engine continues to run smoothly with no vibration.

I have a question, when your geting your vapor lock, does it only happen when your getting close to empty on gas? Ive heard of this happening but only on low fuel. From what I was told when you have less fuel it can "heat up" faster due to less volume, haveing a full tank of gas you should have "colder" fuel and that makes it less likely to heat up and cause a vapor lock. This might be but that is what I was told.

I know we had the problem right after putting in the water, which would mean that I had just fueled on land. Typically, I don't fill it up, but it would definitely have 1/2 to 3/4 of a tank. When I was having the problem it would happen more often when both the air and water temps were high.
