"sun baked" is just the boat not being stored under roof and properly cleaned and waxed 1-2 times a year. Of course it does get VERY hot in those states but its all how boat is cared for. You should know pretty quick if boat was sun baked or not cared for by looking at it cause gelcoat will have oxidation and vinyl will be rough or cracking on a 7-9yr old boat.
    Good luck finding something great
Completely agree. There are quite a few very proud owners on this site from TX and AZ. If you look at their boats, many of them are very well cared for. Being up in MN, we have a much shorter season and I see a bunch of boats that are not cared for nearly as well. It is all in the owner. Truth be told, I tend to believe that a boat that sees more use may very well be better taken care of. I know people that own boats (mainly I/Os) that do not change their oil every season because "I don't have XXX hours on it yet", where as a good owner that puts hours on may change fluids a couple of times a year. Also, being in the heat, may cause an owner to apply protectant to the surfaces more often because they are aware of the risk.

No matter where you purchase it from, look at how it has been loved. Have it checked out mechanically and have the hours verified. Keep in mind that it is mechanical. No matter what boat you buy, new or used, you could have hundreds of trouble free hours or you could bring it home and have to have something repaired after 5 hours.

I've seeen some trashed boats come out of every state. Sun is sun, sure the heat might play a smidge more of a roll but not nearly as much as you think. As for the hours being reset... you gotta have it checked...

Yeah I was just saying that I would have to try and go look at the boats first to make sure they were well taken care of.

Honestly I'd almost rather buy a boat from warmer places, the boats tend to dry out better between uses. Carpet and vinyl aren't constantly wet, metal isn't rusting, etc...The moisture can cause all kinds of problems.

It all depends on how you keep them. Up here on Vancouver island it rains a freekeen a lot and things mild very easily and take forever to dry out. But if you keep care of it things are just fine, just like if you keep care of it in the sun.

Another question. What about 2010 models and the tige touch? The tige touch seems cool but has there been issues with it being the first year of it? Also anything else about them (specifically a 2010 22ve)?

So would that be a pretty easy fix or?
Also how easy is it to reprogram the ballast timers on the touch screen? Any other issues that people have had?

Also I don't like the cooler location in 2010 because we surf goofy a lot and want a sack there. How easy would it be to remove this cooler?

True story, I completely agree it's all how you take care of it. I've got a couple boys that live in the White Rock, Abbotsford, and Chilliwack area and it blew my mind seeing all the rot and mildew in people's stuff.
No disputing that metallic objects last longer in dry climates.

i don't even use the ballast timers, just water till water comes out of vents or stops when draining. No luck on depth yet as is seems to be the triducer, still trying to source out. but that can go on any boat. The only thing I don't like about the boat is the way the cushion just friction fits over the cooler. I will eventually look into a hinge to solve the problem of when someone steps on the cushion and it pops out. other than that, great boat so far.

Chugh2o. I wouldn't worry about the cooler too much on the goofy side. I have an 09 so I don't have a cooler but I can make a nicer cleaner goofy wake with less weight than I can on the port side. You don't weight the same for both sides. All this being based on listing.

Goofy side likes a lot of bow weight and doesn't need as much in the rear corner like the regular side. I have a 900lbs sac that fills about 80% plus the hard tank 250lbs. I then fill my bow sac full along with another 200lbs on top. I usually run the taps lower too. Haven't spent much time with a suckgate yet. Just made a new one over the weekend to try again.

Dukes. Even the cushion behind my driver seat pops easily as well. Have had a few people take a dive from standing on the edge. A hinged system would be a lot better. My next project is to make a step that goes where the corner cushion sits and has a leg that touches the floor to act as a walk through. I'm tired of people stepping on my cushions. Especially now that I just got my rear bench re-upholstered because of that.

Those recommendations apply to a starboard wave with the 24Ve as well. Lots of bow weight, TAPS ~2 notches lower on the scale, and less offside ballast than when running a port wave. I wouldn't say the goofy side is cleaner, but if you're careful it can be AS clean as the regular side.

Called on the yellow 09 24ve and was told that it sold 3weeks ago! I might call again tomorrow and ask another worker just to be sure. But that bummed me out. So still looking. I have seen a few 22's that I will call on as well. If anyone knows or has anything please let me know. Thanks

Go back to the listing I shared in post #41 of this thread. Try and stretch the budget a bit and pick up this beauty. I could give you a deal on our 2007 22Ve if I could talk my wife into upgrading I would. Like I said before, I would rather have a RZ2 or RZ4 for the bigger bow.
