The RZ4/RZ2/22Ve/24Ve all have similar below the waterline hulls. The RZ4/24Ve will obviously require more ballast weight to get a wave, but will put out a larger wave since it really is all about displacement. With a larger hull, when sunk, you have more displacement, equaling a larger wave.

The RZ4 will have the larger "pickle fork" bow and you gain storage space and I believe a trash can built in - I do believe they added a trash can in the 09 22Ve/RZ2 as well, but not sure.

I think the trend to larger boats will give the RZ4 better resale, especially since there are not that many of them around.

I would try to drive both. We haven't spent a lot of time in our 22Ve, but really do like it. Truth be told though, I wish I would have waited - did more research - and spent a little more money and got a RZ2. I really like the wider bow and my wife prefers the squarer nose. She says that she is much more comfortable when loading on the trailer or pulling up along a downed rider since she can use that corner of the nose as a better guide for the width of the boat - she visually puts that corner at the rider instead of lining up the peak of the traditional bow and then having to turn away as she approaches. Not sure if this is a thing for any of your drivers, but having comfortable additional drivers gets you more time behind the boat.

Thanks dandy that was very helpful. I won't be able to test drive those two boats because the are over 12 hours away from me but I might be able to test drive the model if there are any near me.

We do like the look of the traditional bow a little more but we the pickle fork is good too and offers more room

I definitely think you should offer what you can afford. The hi end used surf boat market in western SD is kinda weird. Sometimes they go for alot less than you would expect. I picked up a used RZ4 for 31700 2 years ago with the intention of flipping it and liked it so much I kept it. You never know if you dont ask.

That is a very good point. I will be probably be calling next week and offering them my budget and will see what they say.

Does anyone happen to have any good pictures of a good surf wave on the RZ4? Also I have seen that the RZ4 would make a steeper and possibly shorter wave than the ve's, is this correct? thanks

Pictures are useless. I hate to say it, but it's true. An RZ4 will make a great wave. Same as 24Ve, and nearly same as RZ2 or 22Ve. All can be long, short, tall etc depending on exact weight setup, speed, water depth, devices, etc etc etc.

You will be safe with any of those 4. Deciding between all of them is majorly splitting frogs hairs.

Thanks Dakota, it's just a very hard decision so now that I know more about all these I will probably call this week and see which I can get the best deal on. Thanks again

Chugh2o, here is a photo of my first attempt at a surf wake. Will post what I did to achieve later in separate post. As we spoke about this is a 09 rz4 with a delta. I have not been able to surf yet as water and air were too cold today.

Those RZ4 waves look great but i think i am now leaning toward the 24ves and 22ves.
