Interior on Tige boats are top of line, they have great warranty and support...and at least in my area, Tige dealer is #1, hands down and your dealer relationship makes a huge impact when you need help.
Really surprised at how incredible the wave looked in that boat (it did have the TAPS 3). Super easy set up. (and I was comparing it to my SV244 which throws a hell of a surf wave). For what its worth, I concur with the engine size too...the boats I was in both had the 360 and with a 20 or 21ft boat, it will be plenty unless you are at really high elevation, even then you are probably good with the right prop. It was VERY snappy in that boat and zero issues with full ballast and 5 people (the 2016 had been upgraded with all the PnP and we had 5 adults in it, still great power and zero hesitation). Don't know how much the upgrade to the 400 costs....but just so you know for down the road on resale, while the 400 might attract a little more attention cause of that upgrade, you will NOT recover your money on it. Never do with options like that.
        Good luck with search
I would have to go and look but if I remember right the 400 upgrade is right around $2k MSRP......it isn't the huge $5-10k like some of the other motors...

At $2k extra for the 400hp, that is reasonable and probably well worth the benefits.

Common misconception with the Raptors, #s are torque not HP as marinized engines have typically been in years past. Craziest thing is the only difference between the 360, 400, and 440 is the tune. So all that money is literally spent on software. The 460 has a different intake manifold, throttle body, and exhaust. Of course the Rouschcharged 575 has many hardware and software changes, but also comes in the priciest. Just some food for thought.

So this is where we are with the boat. We designed a new RZR and sent the build to two dealers yesterday. We'll see what they come back at. The 20 ft boat fits our needs the best I believe. We were considering the RZ2 but ruled that out for now. Our lake is 225 acres. It is private and most cabins/cottages are weekenders and it doesn't get very busy. There are 22 ft wake/surf boats so it would work but I'm not ready to give up barefooting. I need 37 mph on the long rope and 39 mph for tricks. I'm the small guy on the squad. A couple guys need 41-43 mph. I'm considering the 440 upgrade as I dont want to change props going from barefooting to surfing or wakeboarding. I ruled the RZ2 out for that reason. These boats are pricy and I only want to

Jack, What did you end up getting? I'm in the same boat as you, uh same situation. I'm back and forth between axis A20 and Tige R20/RZR. I'm really struggling to choose but want to have my new boat by summer and get boat show deals. We'll do a lot of surfing and wake boarding but we live on a tiny lake with slalom course and although we don't ski yet I assume we will. 20' fits my boat slip best and like you we never have a full boat.

I’d take the rzr any day over the axis. The new 18 r20s have also stepped up there game. The only reason I would consider the axis is if my full priority was wakeboarding as the hull can be a little tippy.

I know everyone has their preferences, but I just don't see the point in spending on a rzr over an R20. Unless you have to have the bigger screen and options(some of which you can still option into an r20), and want a little more out of your interior. Otherwise you are getting same hull, same ballast, floor plan etc for less $.
I haven't spent any time in the water in an Axis but have serviced a few and I personally think that Tige builds the better boat. Just my opinion. I'd also rather have the Raptor over the 6.0.

I thought both boats had the same 400 indmar.

Yeah I agree. Unless you want a better ski wake or size restrictions I’d jump up to the z1 before the rzr.

All Tige's have been getting the Raptor since '15 or '16(unbadged 360 is still a 6.2L with same internals as it's bigger brothers). Axis as far as I know is still running the Chevy 5.7 and 6.0 badged as the "Monsoon". I believe the Monsoon is the same L96 "M60" that was used in 2015 by Tige just with different badges, but not 100% on that. Exhaust manifolds and Cats sure look the same when I've serviced them.
It's also personal choices but I dislike how the windshield just ends on the Axis. Feel like in the right wind it has to be a splashy ride in the Captains chair, but again just an assumption based on looks. Also not a fan if the tower. Tige nailed it with the new E2 and M2 towers

i wouldn't go axis if you care about longevity. go put your hand on an axis hull and give a little push. Do the same with a Tige, then make your own judgment. Now maybe being on a small lake with very like little traffic and wave action to bounce your hull around over the years it won't matter, but for the money, value, and quality, for me with tige ftw. Aesthetics tige wins as well.

Freeheel I feel the same as you about the looks. Don't like the axis windshield or tower or captains seat, dash or Bimini for that matter. But I'm trying, although hard, to put less emphasis on looks since only a handful of people will see it. Things I like about Axis A20 is much larger interior, PNP Ballast, price, and actually like the simple interior. Thanks for the engine info. Maybe they are different engines but both make around 400lb ft. I hear the Rapter 400 is great and comes with a nicer transmission than 360. Even if I go R20 Im getting the Rapter 400.

Cnote Thanks for the idea to check out the hulls. I'm going to see them both this week. I will say I have always felt like my 2004 Malibu VLX hull is kinda flimsy but you are correct that on my lake the only wake I ever cross is my own so not much abuse.

Lots of people saying I should go up to 21'. I can't go Tige 21 because its actually 21.5 and restrictions. I hear Moomba quality has improved but I just can't seem to put it on my list even though I like the 20.5' size. Whats my next best option for budget 21 foot crossover? a new Malibu VLX?

If you want a true 21ft crossover on a budget, and the r21 is too big. I’d be looking at the Malibu 21 Vlx or mlx. What are your restrictions on size?
