    Car amp versus marine amp

    I purchased my 2001 21V (Fox Racing Edition) earlier this year and one of the two amplifiers (both from Clarion) was shot (as well as two speakers - all speakers are marine-grade). I just spent $125 getting the amp fixed (new power supply and channel feed). Does the factory normally use marine-grade amps or car-grade amps? In theory, the amp should be protected from the elements but I have a hole directly above the amp for the tower speaker cables. I've caulked the hole, but I'm looking for insight from other Tige owners... Is the amp going to blow again?

    One last note, we are on a relatively small lake and don't often use the stereo, but I have had a real kick wakeboarding to the soundtrack of the "Sound of Music" and "Organ Music"... If anyone could suggest some good Swiss Yodeling CD's that would be appreciated...

    Most will use a Car amp because you can protect the amp from the elements in most cases. Plus most marine grade products don't match up to the regular stuff. This is starting to change with speakers but amps I would still use a car amp before a marine amp.

      How about a nice Polka song to get your spirits up. Or a square dance, promenade left on you board and dosy-doh.

          Thanks for the big laugh.... I ran into someone last weekend (unknown to me) who asked if I was the guy wakeboarding to the song "I am Sixteen, Going on Seventeen" from "The Sound of Music". Some people need an "invert" will make them famous, I'll settle with some unexpected music. When (and if) I get good, I'll be wakeboarding to the "Flight of the Walkuries (sp?)" by Wagner. This was the music used in "Apocalypse Now".

          As an aside, I usually keep the Beatles song "Help" for newbies that can't/won't cross the wake...

            The Ride of the Valkyiers

            Our football team comes out to that Song. We watch Apocalypse Now before our first game (this has been going on since about 1980) We show the seen where they play The Ride of the Valkyiers. "Charlie don't surf!" and "I love the smell of Napalm in the morning" Combined with my favorite line just before they leave "How you feel solder?" Solder-"Like a Mean MFer, Sir"


            I could board behind that song any day. BTW- it is on my i-pod.

              Block Rockin Beats

              Dude! We were chilling on the dock a couple weeks ago and these yahoo's were rocking out the "Sound of Music"... If it is a morning session, I like to warm up with some Neil Diamond and then drop some beats... If it is a sundowner... It's gotta be guitars... lots of guitars... and possibly some Vivaldi or organ music... Wagner has never been my bag of beans...
