Alpha E2 vs. Alpha Z Tower

Suggestion, whomever owns an E2 tower, I would like a picture of the tower folded at its lowest point to see the highest point on the boat. I believe it will be the swivel racks sticking up. What is the highest point in inches from the ground to the highest point on he boat?

I have also had both towers, and the Alpha Z was hard to beat, but the E2 does it. The looks take some getting used to, but the functionality is well thought out. From the power fold (which I don't use currently), to the one person fold out bimini (saves my marriage), the fixed locations for speakers in prime locations (with plenty of head room for tall folks), the leds, and overall "stance", Tige really hit a homerun with the redesign.

Not our boat, that was when we were at the factory and wanted to get my boy out for a bit after watching our Z1 be built which looks like this:

I traded my '14 Z3 with the Alpha for a '17 RZX3 with the E2. I'm 6'6" and the boat lives on a lift at the lake. My dealer had a '16 RZX with the Alpha in stock, but we spent the coin for the '17 RZX3. I never was fond of the alpha tower. It had the Rev 10s too close to my ears while driving. The E2 places them well above my head both while driving and while moving around the cockpit. The E2 gives you a taller tow point which should benefit your surfers/boarders. One of my MAJOR concerns with the E2 was bridge clearances. We have to navigate a bridge to get from our creek out to the main lake. Not a read deal breaker, but I didn't want to have to find out the hard way the taller boat combined with taller tower (compared to '14 Z3) wouldn't clear the bridge. We will be fine unless the lake is at flood stage, then we will just remain in our creek.

FYI for those needing garage clearance, it's literally one bolt on each rack to remove them. Hex head. Will try and post the size today. We are rigging new boats like crazy.

Yeah but that bolt is supposed to be loc-tited in. Are people supposed to reapply the loc-tite every time they remove them??

You could easily go to a blue loctite which would a accomplish what you want and not have the bolt fight you on the way out, or with a quick bit of searching I bet a guy could find a split lock washer that fits in recess for socket head. If that's the only thing keeping a boat from going into your garage I would think plenty of guys would do it...Sure beats storing in your driveway. I would also bet that the bolt would have to have prolonged vibration exposure to loosen up even without loctite, and presumably if you did have to remove them to get into your garage the wrench to tighten would be in your boat should they loosen while on the lake. Again just boils down to what lengths you are willing to go to in order to store inside.

Thanks Majestic. I would be interested in your Z1 "height" is with the tower folded from the ground. You going with standard 14" rims? Rims do impact overall height if that is a concern. I imagine you are looking at 86" or greater? Garage storage is a #1 priority for me. Take care.

Looking at those pics, I would be a bit surprised if the tacks end up lower than an alpha Z. No way I would want to remove racks every time it came out but probably would if I had to.

I can say that my 16 Z3 almost fits in a 7' garage but is off by several inches. I have a curved arch that goes from 7' to 8'. If I'm too close to the ends it's pretty close.

Instead of measuring top to ground, let's measure top to gunwale. That will take things long me the trailer and tires out of the equation.

My 2016 Z1 with alpha Z tower, 14" rims measures 84" to clear garage door header. Flat Driveway with no slope.

I am sure the E2 tower wakeboard racks adds many more inches to the height. I am just pointing this out because some customers need to know this if garage storage is a priority like me BEFORE bringing that new boat home for the first time and it does NOT fit! Try explaining this to the wife!

Maybe all this is mute if the alpha Z is no longer an option for a new boat purchase.

Funny how so many dealers have no clue the height of a new boat for garage storage. They look at you like " if it does not fit, rent a bigger storage unit".

I haven't had a chance to measure a new tige with tower down for you guys, may have time tomorrow. Been rigging moombas instead. Have to spend some time in a tige R23 tomorrow. Will grab the tape and fold it down and get #s with racks off and on...Can't remember if it's on 14" or 18" wheels. Will let y'all know. I am not sure because I'm not in sales, but I imagine PTM has a quick disconnect coupler for this exact topic of discussion, just know we haven't optioned any boats with quick disconnects.

FWIW, I couldn't get my Z3 into the garage, on the boatmate trailer with 18" wheels, with the tower folded, the top of the tower mount is just under 8' for me.

7 feet 1 inch for my 2016 Z3 on boatmate trailer and 20" rims. Just went and measured.
