got to go to sand hollow this past weekend and had a blast. It is just out of hurricane, ut. i'm sure mr. talltigeguy knows all about it. we stayed at the campground with a bunch of friends. little windy on sat, so we tubed and hung out on beach most of the day. sun morning was awesome. got to get out and board for a couple hrs. i saw several tige's out there on sat. there is also sand dunes there. we brought our four wheelers and rode them also. so if your looking for some nice campgrounds with full hook ups, water for the boat, and sand, this would be the place.

Sand Hollow is a great spot. It is a lot of fun to be able to both be on the water and the sand at the same place.

One day last winter when it was about 70 degrees some friends and I went motorcycling and ATVing in the morning and then went wakeboarding around noon or so. The water was nothing but glass, it's too bad my legs were weak and shaky from riding that it was hard to do. The water gets down to about 45 degrees in January, but if we have a warm spell it will hang in the 50's, which is very doable in a drysuit.

I've been down to Sand Hollow a few times this year. I liked it so much I bought a lot that is within a couple of minutes from the ramp. I heard there will be a golf course going in once enough homes are built. Two Lakes, sand dunes, and a golf course within minutes. I think my investment may turn into my permanent residence.

sorry tall, just wanted to let my fellow tige owners know about it. where I live on the north side of las vegas, it takes me the same amount of time to go to the river, or sand hollow. we really don't go to lake mead very much anymore. water is soooo low and dangerous. and it seems there are more and more morons on the lake every time we go. we just try to stay away. it looks like they are building some homes just before you get to sand hollow. it is very nice area.

weve only been on the lake on big weekends, so we havnt had great water on it yet but we always have fun. we go to the dunes 3-4 times in the off season, and its always glass then. weve always wanted to take the bikes and the boat dowincase the waters good, and it always is when were not on it. will probably try this year.

I just saw on the news last night and read in the paper this morning about the new planned development at Sand Hollow, call "Sand Hollow Resort". It appears that the developers are out of Lehi. I'm wondering if they are the same developers that did Saratoga springs on the shores of Utah lake. I'm not so sure that I like this idea as it will just bring more crowds to a not so large lake.

It would bring more revenue to the County though.

I agree that the lake is pretty small. on the saturday we were there, there were boats everywhere. we had to be extra careful when tubing and boarding. we hung out on the nice red sand beaches most of the day. sunday early am was perfect though.

With my property tax RATE and APPRAISAL both going up by a huge chunk this year, the county doesn't need more revenue. They could learn to catch up with the growth that is already here.

The developers have tried to con people into thinking that growth pays for itself, but that is complete malarkey. Larger towns always have higher property tax rates. If the growth paid for itself, why is every single city in the county raising tax rates?

To the subject at hand, the growth has already made Saturday afternoon boating dangerous on any of the local lakes. There is a constant barrage of water maggots that insist on following closely, and boaters that have no idea how to drive safely. I would take the Overton arm of Lake Mead any day over Sand Hollow on Saturdays.

I better go home and take some Prozac.

Tall I can definately understand your frustration. I sell real estate in Saratoga Springs over looking Utah lake and alot of locals feel the same way you do. The marina's are way to small for the amount of people moving in. At least Utah lake is large enough to handle the crowds.

I agree Sand Hollow is way to crowded on the weekends. There are to many stupid boaters. I have felling its only giong to get worse. How is quail creek res.? Is it any bigger than sand hollow?

I ran into coach Kyle Whittingham last time I was at Sand Hollow. I think he might end up in the water if I saw him on the dock today.

Quail is a bit smaller than Sand Hollow, so it seems that Sand Hollow gets the crowds more. Honestly, I prefer Quail because it seems just a little bit less crowded. It is not as picturesque, no decent sandy beach, Parking lot is smaller.

The secret is that during the week in the early morning hours, you have Quail nearly to yourself. (that is a secret mind you). If you don't know what a Wally is then you are definitely not invited.

To anybody interested in boating in southern Utah:
Sand Hollow is the best place to boat, there are beautifu sandy beaches, lots of shoreline, and abundant boating acreage. Don't believe anything that Talltigeguy says about Quail Creek. It is right by the water treatment plant, it smells, the water is dirty, and it is very small. Sand Hollow has nice clean water. Go there.

Yes, um way too small - It is OK if you like to ski in circles, I lost my sense of smell back in 'Nam so that isn't too bad for me, don't forget Nazi Ranger John (RJ, I call him) who will give 'free boat inspections' at any time. So it is best to stay away from Quail.

I heard that Quail Creek was built on top of nuclear tailings and that people that boat in it have a problem of their boats glowing at night...and oh yeah, I also heard that it is on top of an ancient indian ruins and that it is cursed.
