    Cleat up front

Has anybody added a cleat to the bow for thier boat. Got one on the way. Is it mounted paralell or perpendicular with/to the boat. I would love to see a pic (no hurry, wont be installed for a while) if anyone wouldn't mind taking the time.

We anchor alot, and it's hard to 'anchor into the wind' when you have to tie up on the side of the boat.

    Thanks.

Here is a pic of the RZ2 it has a cleat up front, hope this might help.

Thanks Coach, I should have mentioned that I have a Ve (dolphin nose).

Allthough the cleats are much closer to the front of the RZ2, I still think that the best place to tie the anchor rode is the bow. The bow-eye (for the trailer winch) is about impossible to reach!

I know what you are talking about now. In many cases that I seen a cleat up front on the V of the Bow it is dead center running from bow to stern not from star to port. You can also put a mushroom cleat up there as well, if it will work for your application.

I am in the same situation as far as anchoring in the wind. I have heard those mushroom cleats are not that strong. If you want to do a single cleat and have the shark eye nav lights, or plan to put them in, I would put the cleat pointed to the bow right in the middle. I plan to put two cleats, one on each side. Similar placement to where the RZ2 cleats are, but on a 22V.

I've got a pull up cleat like the factory ones. My 1st choice is in the center of the bow. 2nd would be one on each side of the nose.

                Here is my .02 worth

Be careful where you install the cleat. When we pull up to a beach people always slide off the front. During the summer that cleat will be awful hot and may burn someone leg.

Mounting the cleat on the side of the nose it tough, because the sides of the bow is curved and the cleat is flat you will have to caulk the sides of the cleat to fill the gaps.

I saw one installed below the rub rail. It is not as far of a reach as the bow hook and is out of the way when getting on and off.
                    Let it be!!!
