    Really? I've had great success with my Marine Power. I can't say I've heard too many issues with them.

    Care to ellaborate? I'd like to know if there is something I should look out for.

        I also just posted in another thread that it looks like my 06 22Ve has a BorgWarner VelvetDrive V-drive/Transmissin.

            I have to admit that my marine power motor has been flawless... I was actually a little skeptical going into the purchase...but can honestly say that I have no regrets and wouldn't hesitate to purchase another motor from them... So far so good...

              We are new to the Tige family. We picked up a 2000 21V last week and I'm getting familiar with the technical details. Ours has the "blue" V-drive that has been mentioned in other posts. From the data plate/sheet it is a Walter V-drive, Model RV-26D, reduction ratio 1.46-1. Nowhere in the documentation have I found a reference to "Synchrotech".

              1. Is the 1.00-1 Walter V-drive the "standard" V-drive or is it another manufacturer? (This unit comes with 5 different ratios)

              2. Is "Synchrotech" the marketing word for the gear reduction non-standard V-drive unit? (1.46-1 Walter)

              3. What is the benefit of using the 1.46-1 ratio? Since a different prop is required (4 blade vs 3 blade) it seems any benefit might be lost in the 4 vs 3 tradeoffs.

              What got me started on this is I'm looking for a spare prop. The Acme 525 is mentioned a lot, but I think I need to look at the Acme 537 because of the 1.46-1 Walter V-drive. I'll be calling Acme.

                I'll try to answer some of your questions-
                1. The Walter V-drive with 1.46 - 1 was not standard, but an option that was ordered and installed on most boats.
                2. Synchrotech is a "marketing" name given to this same gear reduction V-drive.
                3. The advantage is more hole-shot and options in the way of using different props to optimize the performance for how you will use the boat. Definately talk to Acme too. I've got an '04 22V with the same V-drive. It came with the wrong prop installed- the 13 1/2 x 17 1/2. The boat ran great, but was a little sluggish taking off with extra ballast. The dealer caught the problem and changed it out to a 13 1/2 x 16. I dropped a few mph on the top end but the hole shot is much better. The prop can make a difference.

                  1. Yes, the 1:1 is the standard v-drive and the 1.46:1 is/was optional.

                  2. Yes

                  3.With the blue unit you will get more low end power with not much lost on the top end even with the change to a bigger prop.

                  A Acme 537 would be a great choice for your boat.

                    Thanks for the info. Our first boat was a '75 Cobalt tri-hull, 302 Ford, Mercruiser sterndrive. Our "newer" boat is now a white 2000 21V Riders Edition, 350 Mag MPI, Warner VelvetDrive, Walter 1.46-1 V-drive. It has so much more power than our previous boat that it's hard to imagine what a prop change can do. It has an O Johnson 14x18 4-blade which I will make our "spare" after talking to Acme and probably getting a 537. Our Tige is all original and had 41.1 hrs on it. We picked it up last week and took it out Sat. and had just a few glitches - it hadn't been on the water for 2 years.

                      My 2004 22V has the black Walter's 1:1 ratio. A dealer told me it should have been the blu 1:5 ratio but this is what the boat came with when I purchased it used.

                      What is Syncrotech? This is the first I'm hearing that term.
