'17 Z3 on the way

I've been a lurker for awhile, we've finally decided to upgrade from the 22v. It was a good boat, rough around the edges and showing its age, but I wanted it that way so I could get better at both driving and maintenance before going new. This board has been a huge help in keeping that boat up and running and in getting us hooked on wakesurfing. This may not be the most sound financial decision we've ever made, but the fun that we'll have as a family and the good times with friends make it worth the risk. You only live once, right?

Have to show it off though, since all of you are partially to blame anyway. I'll post up the build pics they send as I get them. There are a few things I'm planning on doing as soon as I get it -- protection film on the trailer and top deck surfaces, satellite radio, and some others, I'll post up pics just to add to the collective knowledge.

I know it's always a risk buying a tower the first year -- I'm pretty impressed with what I was able to see in the showroom. No gears, and the weight is completely off the actuator when its up and it doesn't shake; with the warranty, I'll take the risk. The only thing I didn't really get a chance to scope out is how hard it will be to fish new wires through it; I've already had a request to mount a GoPro up top.

we did the same thing (bought used, lurked, pulled the trigger on new) and we have NO REGRETS! Some would argue, but I believe if you buy ANY boat as an investment "You're doing it all wrong".

I have a 2017 R21 and the tabs are the same on it.....it's probably the pic unless they changed the tabs mid-2017 production run....

As far as I know, they are still the same, the Tige site has a decent picture about half-way down that looks the same as the tabs I saw in the showroom.

Great looking boat sir, to answer your question about running wire in the tower it is a lot simpler with the new tower vrs the old one. The panels on the side of the tower come off for better access. Congrats

What protection film are you referring to on the trailer?

Planning on using 3M protective film on the trailer, transom, swim deck (just the fiberglass), and other deck areas prone to scratching.

We tow about 45 miles one-way down the interstate to our lake, so still trying to come up with something to protect the boat itself from rock chips, not sure that the film would last too long on the hull in the water. I've seen the trailer wing looking things and the wide RV-style mudflaps, just have to decide if the risk of a rock is greater than having something that ugly on the setup.

I made my flap as at the time Rocktamers were ridiculously priced. I've heard they've gotten better now. Personally I don't care if it looks ugly it's keeping rocks off my boat. I think it's stupid when I see guys with lifted trucks pulling these expensive tourney boats without any protection. Some people just have more money than brains. Why not protect it as much as possible if you trailer a lot.

One thing with the Rv mud flaps is that depending on the material and exhaust location it might melt and fall off. We had this happen when we went to Idaho with our Silverado 3500. Although what it did prove was that it kept the boat much, much cleaner on the one side with the fully intact flap.

Yep, trying to think of that too, I drive a Ram 1500, so dual exhaust straight out the back. Towtector has cuts out to deal with it, just not sure about the grass skirt thing. I guess it works because you see it so often? Or would something like the removable husky liner mud flaps that go up in the wheel well be just as good?

Sweet ride. You will love it. One thing to note is that the solid colors tend to show scratches. If I were to choose my colors, I would keep it mostly white with metallic flake. Esp on the nose.

In fact, more metallic flake the better. When the sun is low on the horizon and hits the stern flake just right it looks pretty cool.
