No problem at all so far I don't regret the investment, it was a tough decision to go for it but after talking to Ryan at Go Surf Assist and giving him my reservations about the wave quality over my listed wave his response was:
"If your not happy with the results, take the tabs off send them back and Ill pay for your gel coat repair"
Seemed like a bold statement especially since he had not seen my current wave, however after the first day I am convinced that this system could be as good as my listed wave.

What are you flying into KPSP? If you get a chance to stop off at KHII give me a heads up the boat is only an hour away from there water temps in the summer are 80+.

I've never actually been on Washoe. It's rarely more than 6' deep. Might have to check it out this year though! I've got friends at Tahoe and we hang out with them here and there. It's a cool lake for a booze cruise. Terrible for riding. We have a lot of little lakes for riding. Lahontan, Boca, Stampede, Frenchmans, and Pyramid are all within 45min of Reno. Pyramid ain't exactly little though. Roughly the size of Tahoe. It's 30min from my doorstep to the ramp but I only go there if every other lake is dried. I will NOT be boating on Pyramid this year.

So, I have always loved that 24Ve wake. I have always wondered how it would do with a device like that, just have never had the time to find out. I notice in the wake pictures, that line that is parallel to the lip. I know that line well when weighting the VE over the years.

That line was an indication that I needed to clean the wave up a BIT more by listing over a bit more. When that line was gone, or had no effect on the wave, just at that point, was the BEST wave.

So my thought is, can you adjust the system to remove that line, without listing more? So can you put plate down more maybe? If not, when level and you see that line, then try adding list, at what roll angle does it go away? I am curious, and feel free to ignore me, but I would love to know.

I'll second that. Your photo looks just like our 2009 24Ve when ballasted and at rest. Onside rub rail at the waterline, offside edge of the swim platform at or just above the waterline. A little freaky for newbie passengers but worth it for the resulting wave! (BTW, dogs love this setup too... it gives them a nice ascending ramp from swimming to climb back into the boat!)

For those still playing with the 24Ve hull: For goofy (starboard) as shown, we found bow ballast to be crucial. Normal (port) side it doesn't matter as much, but for goofy the wave got REALLY clean when we maxed out the 400# fat sac in the bow.

This is with no "system" (nothing beyond TAPS2). All done with liquid ballasting. Stock swim platform, too. I know some have modified theirs, but we don't see any negative impact so why fix what isn't broken....

Because, my wife would freak out, and after a few hours like this, man my neck would ache! I love it as level as possible.

Its hard to tell people, "trust me, this is safe". ;-)

I would like to add, that occasionally we go out with the intention to push the limits. This was a week day, lake almost to ourselves, perfect conditions, and we pushed it. ;-)

To clarify: When I typed "Stock swim platform, too. I know some have modified theirs, but we don't see any negative impact so why fix what isn't broken...." I was speaking of modifying the swim platform. Ours doesn't seem to hurt our wave, so "why fix [alter the swim platform] what isn't broken".

I totally agree level is better from a comfort and safety standpoint.

As for "Trust me, this is safe" we've actually had people approach us on the lake in a panic and offer to tow us in, to climb onboard and "fix our problem", and even argue with us that we do indeed HAVE a problem when we have tried to assure them we're listing on purpose. {grin} Those conversations are fun at first, but they get a little tiresome when (in one case) the guy basically said we were too stupid to even realize we had a problem despite carefully explaining our ballasting system, etc. He just couldn't wrap his head around the concept. I've often wondered if he later saw us surfing... maybe our wave passed under his boat... and had an "Oh, I get it now" moment.

Would never ignore the guy that I have secretly followed since you sent the boat to wakemakers way back when. So here is what I found about that line:
First noticed it when trying the mission boat gear Delta tab. It was a complete and total mess and that second lip washed out the wave to the point of almost unsurfable. I gave up on the delta and went back to my listed wave

After about 50+ hours with Taps3 expierence I leaned from playing with the system and talking to guys with dialed in waves, that adding counter weight to sink the tabs deeper really changed the wave (for the better). What has really thrown me for a loop was as soon as I felt the GSA tabs where in a good position I would try and use TAPS2 to tune it...epic fail! The taps plate almost can't move after your tune with GSA. Taps 3-5 was great but if you get into the extremes of 1 or 7 it was a disaster.

These photos are from the first test run, and had my TAPS3 expert to help me dial it in. Unfortunately with rain and time restraints we didn't get a chance to drain some out of Surf side to see what it would do. I also did not have all the steel weight bags in the boat.

The goofy side still needs a lot of work, here is DP Powell since he is a regular size person. LOL hate the way my wave looks with me on it since I am so tall the wave looks tiny. Though here you can see it's nothing compared to my listed wave......yet! I'll make it massive as before but I just need more time on the water.

One thing that may help, the taps plate was redesigned. It was based on RJ and I did with the VX. We found that the VX wave could be cleaner, it seemed the taps plate was causing lots of turbulence and whitewash, especially at the ends of its range, so on like goofy, we could only have taps on 3-4, and nothing else and it was very touchy. We experimented with 8-9 shapes and finally came up with one that worked great. We gave it to tige, they made some small changes, but the taps plate from 2016 (I think 2017 is the same) is that design. it is wider, and doesn't have that lip at the end, and shorter. You should ask Tige if you can buy one, I don't think I have any more.

The other thing, is weight level, and get the best wake you can, if the line is there and messing with that lip, list the boat more to surf side, up to 7 degrees or so. I bet there is a point, where it cleans up perfect and 3-4 degrees, give or take. If you are able to get that same listed wave on the 24Ve with this system, and only have to list a few degrees, that would be a win IMHO, a big win.

Can't wait to see the reults in person. Just wish i was closer so i did not have to wait till the reunion in September. I have been considering this for a while and like you was concerned if it was worth the cash. Thanks for stepping up Brad and pulling the trigger and doing such a good write up. RG-I do not have the original TAPS2 plate anymore, I purchased a version very similar to what you are talking about last year and so far have been pleased with the results.

Thank you again for all the advice and help with getting this dialed in, I am hoping to be in my boat in 2 weeks with some luck.

Wakeman22- So far even with the limited time I have with the system, I would buy it again. I am not throwing massive waves right now, but with what I have seen so far with the system, I am not even scratching the surface of what this boat or system is capable of. I may not be able to exceed an RZX wave, but I tell you what give me 10-20 more hours with the system and I will turn some heads with this wave.
