I missed 2016 and 2015 reunions, but what we have done prior to that was include all participants in the raffle except for the Tige corporate gift. Tige for many years offered $2500 off a new boat or reimbursed the dealer for that much worth of work and goods. Only current Tige owners were included in that.

I think that made sense, as that most of the sponsors are interested in everyone utilizing their products, not just Tige owners. For example, Sky Ski and Boat Bling would love for owners of any boat to use their products.

There was plenty of prizes for all. Nobody went home without an arm and bag full of sponsored product.

          LOL. I hear ya Tall.

I will probably get blasted for my opinion but here goes..

Most sponsors are sponsoring events for every Boat MFG I would think. This event as it is described on the TIGE WEBSITE is for TIGE OWNERS thats really the end of the discussion.

As for the rest of the event, the coordinators have a tough job, I couldn't do it.

I have a differing opinion of the reunion and its objective because I am coming at it from two sides. The reunion like I mentioned above is for TIGE OWNERS, that should be first thing on the list. If the reins loosen and the event becomes watered down with boats from all makes or people who arent current owners...... what then? Where is the line? To me the line is simple. If at any point a current owner new or old cannot participate because of availability hindered by non owners then we have a problem.

The coordinators to my knowledge don't control availability and wont ever unless they release the reunion dates to owners first and foremost.

I know my opinion probably makes me look like a total jerk, I just cant justify in the future leaving out Current Tige owners in favor of Non owners as harsh as that sounds. Its so counter productive in regards to the event, its Big Sponsors and what the event is about overall ......... We have a crazy waiting list this year from what I heard from some new owners that bought from us, were directed to check out Temple bar and told it has no occupancy.

This event is an exclusive thing, its special and its where all the current owners get to geek out on Tige's for the week... That my .02 for whatever its worth which is not much.

            Couldn't agree more.

I will be at temple bar the same time as the reunion is taking place. I booked my rooms months ago when I was a Tige owner, fully expecting to be a tige owner at the reunion. I think I booked the rooms the day the reunion was announced because I knew if I didn't I would not get the 2 rooms I needed. Last year the family staying next to us was not part of the reunion. They just happened to be there when the event was going on. I guess that will be us this time. If I could change my vacation schedule I would probably change it for the week after or before. That's just not possible.

Nobody should think for a second that I expect to be allowed in to the party. I totally get that this is for TIGE OWNERS. Why should I eat dinner or have my name in the raffle? I shouldn't. I have no problem with that. If someone wants to give me a bottle of boat cleaner, like last year, I'm not going to say no. Don't feel like you have to give me one though.

Here's the issue that I think needs to be dealt with: The reunion is busting at the seams! This is a great problem to have, but it also causes some other problems. I don't know how big the waiting list is to get a room, but clearly Tige owners have outgrown Temple Bar. To paraphrase a comment I heard last year at the reunion: "This is the Tige Owners reunion? There's what, 15 boats here?" I guess he wasn't impressed with the turnout.
Even if Tige owners got every room at the motel, and each room brought a boat it is still maxed out at like 20-25 boats. How cool would it be to see 100+ boats show up? Maybe, like you said, the coordinators send a notice to the regulars about the reunion date so they can get their rooms in advance, then open it up. Or maybe they just reserve all the rooms themselves and everyone goes through them to get a room. Then maybe in a year or two it's time to start looking at a new location that has the room grow, such as Wahweap on Lake Powell. There would be no problems getting 100 boats there. The Resort is nice and on the water. There is 15-20 other hotels in Page. There's houseboats, and RV parking. It is a longer drive for some, but a shorter drive for others. Another option could be Bear Lake which is probably right in the middle of the western US. That would open up chance for many more people to travel, and there is still room for all of them.

At this point whatever you do you cannot blame non owners for hindering the ability of owners to come to the reunion. The way things are done now it could be totally possible (though not probable) for some random family reunion to get booked the same weekend, taking up most or even all of the rooms. Then what would happen? Will the coordinators ask them to give up their rooms?

theGerman618 and I would like to Thank all of you for your input. It is truly appreciated. As much as I hate to admit it (and it is hard to say this), I agree with UNSTUCK when he states "Then maybe in a year or two it's time to start looking at a new location that has the room grow". We have been working diligently to make this the biggest and best Tige Reunion to date. In the process, it does appear to be "busting at the seams!" A good problem to have, but a problem none the less. As far as a random family reunion, we planned ahead for that possibility. Some have asked "why are you guys announcing the event so far in advance"? Well, we start the planning process early (last November for this event) to mitigate these types of situations. For example... theGerman618 and I originally wanted to hold the reunion the weekend of September 22. When I called Temple Bar, 3 rooms were already booked for that weekend. However, no rooms were booked for September 15-17. This enabled us to announce and grab those rooms as soon as possible. At this time, every hotel room and fishing cabin is booked by Tige Owners or former Tige Owners (a BIG success in my opinion). In closing, please allow me to state the following respectfully with no ill intent or disrespect to anyone; As the coordinators, we are doing everything we can to make this a great event and to make everyone happy. Anyone who has gathered this many people together for ANYTHING knows from experience that it's impossible. We are going to frustrate some people along the way. We understand that. However, as the coordinators we have to make some hard decisions along the way (don't even get me started on competing sponsors, LOL). We ask that you consider that when you disagree with something we put out. We will listen to ALL feedback, but we may not implement ALL ideas. Thank you! D&P Powell (Dave).

I don't think anyone thinks you are expecting that. I don't at least, never for a second. I've spent enough time on the phone to know you aren't that type of guy.

As far as your rooms, do what you choose.

I kind of like the smaller group. 100 boats anywhere is crazy...(Havasu -Sping break comes to mind). it seems there is always the right amount of boats/people for everyone to have a great time at the reunions in the past. Temple bar is a perfect remote place where the reunion essentially has the water all to themselves. I like the crowd and location currently for what it's worth.

I didn't mean to spark any strong emotions here. I was just stating facts about previous reunions. I don't even know if I will be there, but I do feel the reunion is like my baby that has grown up and gone off to college, so it still has a great sentimental interest to me.

One major change between some of the previous reunions and now is the level of involvement that a Tige dealer offered. In the last years that I attended, the dealer support was severely waning. I even did the T-shirts and a fair amount of the organizing while being a Mastercraft and Malibu owner. The reunion was good that way, but it really could never grow without a strong dealer presence. Now that there is a strong dealer presence, supporting that dealer is paramount to its ongoing success. With the support that Germaine is giving (just bringing 3 boats is no small task, not to mention other support) it makes sense that the reunion should also be prioritized to serve their customers before Tige owners out of the area. If it became a 'western states' type of reunion, corporate should bear more of the burden.

I have some experience with other types of reunions as well. Hydrofoilers have some of the best examples of successful reunions, and have pretty much no corporate support. These reunions are substantially bigger than the TO reunion. The best ones are always ones where accomodations are essentially on the water. The ones where everyone splits up end up failing or having limited attendance. It is the getting together after the boating that keeps people coming back, and makes them feel satisfied. The relationships just don't happen otherwise. The largest of these events is at Apache Lake outside of Phoenix. There is a pretty good sized hotel right on the lake, a small store and a restaurant right within walking distance of the ramp. There are no other services within 45 minutes, very much like Temple Bar.

I have dreamed of organizing a foiling reunion at Lake Powell, but it would be hard to keep everyone together. I believe it is the best place on earth, but it just doesn't lend itself to a great reunion experience. If you upped the ante, rented 4 houseboats, and locked up a beach in Warm Creek bay, now that would be awesome! But that would increase costs substantially.

I had heard about the reunions back in 2003 when I bought my 21 and started researching what it was about. The dealer in Corona used to host and then things went dead when the economy crashed. My first reunion was 2013 and there were 4 boats, '14 had 8 (9 with tall's Malibu), '15 had 12 and last year we were at 18. Lets please, please not have a 100 boat reunion...ever. I still didn't get to hang with everyone last year and the owners pool has grown exponentially. We've said it before, most of us would go without sponsors or give aways or dealer support, it's the community formed thats been the biggest part of it. When my girlfriend attended last year she said to me on the drive home, "Now I understand why this is so important, we need a bigger boat!". I was alarmed at how quickly the place booked this year and it's going to be difficult with 2 kids and no bathroom fishing cabin style but so it goes (I'm at the head of that room waiting list, right Brad?). It sounds like our Tige community has and is growing rapidly and I'd hate to see other owners have to miss this event because of lack of accommodations. You guys have done a fantastic job yet again with organization efforts so please continue to do what you do, I'm happy to be here again!

                            Only a few months left before the Reunion (97 days, but who's counting). We are still working on sponsors, but we need to start taking T-Shirt orders now. Here's the breakdown;

The t-shirts this year will be the same fabric as the last few years (a climate cool type of material). We changed it up a little though. They will be short sleeve, dark grey, with Tige Orange colors. This logo will be on the front...

                            IMG_0574.PNG

The logos of the sponsors will once again be on the back. We are selling the following shirts (S,M,L,XL) at $15 per; Adult Men, Adult Women (v-neck), and children's. The children's shirts will not include the logos on the back. We are selling adult larger sizes (2XL, 3XL, and 4XL) at $20 per. Please place your order here (on the TO forum) if you are interested.

                            Thanks, Dave
