Playing Taps for my TAPS

My TAPS is dead! Has anybody had this happen. Last Saturday, TAPS is working fine. We went out tonight and the TAPS is dead, no sound or movement when pushing on the button.

My boat is 2000 2300V. Is there a fuse for the TAPS system and where is located? Also, how do you check the fluid for TAPS? Any help will be appreciated.

It must be electrical, check the fuse, yes there is one, or the relay. My taps quit on my 98 2002 years ago and although I cant remember the details, I am pretty sure it was a relay that **** the bed.

It is not the fluid, think electrical. Check power to the switch, go from there.

Also, you can contact Bennet. They are the manufacturer is the tab. Super people to work with. Just do seach for Bennet + tabs and you should be able to find it.

It definately sounds electrical though. If it was a fluid deal the pump would still run. Start with the switch on the throttle. I know a lot of people have had issues there.

Can you imagine not having Taps now that you know what it's like not having it?

BTW, your taps pump is behind the rear driver's side storage compartment on the drivers side, opposite of the battery (on the other side behind the rear storage compartment).

I found my TAPS pump. I have looked everywhere I can think of (under dash, near pump, near battery) and I can't seem to find any fuses or relays that relate to the TAPS system?

Do they have a fuse or relay?

Also, I will try contacting the makers of the pump.

It is amazing how much I miss having it work.

First, I'd check to see if you're getting power to the throttle control and then follow it back to the pump. Do you have a electrical tester?

Yes. Do you just use a screw driver to pop out the switch from the throttle control?

NO! There is a set screw on it that you need to loosen.

TAPS is back!

I called the dealer to ask where the fuse is for TAPS. They told me that it was under the dash, but that if it is blowing fuses there are probably more problems and the fuse will blow again and that I should bring it in.

Anyway, I went out there one last time to find the fuse and followed the wires coming out of the throttle. I wanted to see if I could get it to blow the fuse. I found the fuse, it is in a large yellow rubber fuse connector. I pulled the fuse out and at first it looked fine, but I pulled it apart and one end had rusted breaking the connection.

New 99 cent fuse and TAPS is back and no boat waiting at the dealer!

TAPS Fuse Question

I'm glad to hear that your problem was solved. I had a similar issue earlier this Summer. When I found my fuse, it was 10A (as opposed to the 20A suggested by Bennett - but I think this might be for the dual Bennett Tab package for stabilizing boats (as opposed to TAPS). Do you recall the amperage of your fuse. Mine has blown a couple of times and I recently replaced it with a 20A fuse (no problems so far). I have a 2001 21v (Fox).

Mine was a 20A fuse.
