I'll be driving right by the MB dealer today. I hope to be able to look at a b52 and f24. I will look at that all black f24 on Monday. I can still take that one on the water if I want but doubt I'll surf behind it. That doesn't matter much anyways as it doesn't have surf tabs yet.
I'll be in PHX for Christmas through New Years. I hope to drive a mojo, and a z3 at least that week. I think I will limit to those four. Once I know which one we want the search will be on. There are two z3's in Cali that I am very interested in.
See if the F22 is big enough for you? I bet it eats less petrol.

That happens about 2 times a year for me....usually when I'm driving my brothers boat.
For $70k you can get a lot of boat. B52, 23 LSV, 247, Z3, RZ4, RZ24 would all make great choices. Just know that surfing with any of these is going to require lots of weight, a big motor, and lots of time tweaking it. It's not going to be a simple "out if the box" deal like an RZX or G23 probably are...even those get little extra lead I hear.
To me on my boat, surfing means compromise. I have to put a bunch of lead weight in to get a sweet wave...but that weight is a bit a a pain to put in and then does not help anything when the kids want to tube, slalom, foil, etc. In the end, I
Just leave the weight at home and really only surf if I have a lot of human ballast. The good news is that if I ever did become a surfer only, I could just set it up to surf and not mess with it. However, since we do a lot of other things, I compromise the surf wave a bit in order to do everything else.
Great problem to have
I would say look for a $60k boat. Because if you're going to add a surf system and all the necessary ballast, and undoubtedly will have to tweak your stereo just a little bit or whatever, it would be nice to have that padding.
I still maintain that you can beat your preset 70k budget pretty badly and still get one ridiculous surfing boat.

Sigh...even the RZX needs tweaking? Man....that's disappointing.
Well....the good news is that all the boats your looking at are great and no matter which one you get, your gonna have to spend time dialing it in.
Don't forget to try the Malibu 23 LSV. They put out a great wave, probably have the best low speed wake in the business, handle like a corvette and are my second favorite looking boat on the water.
I would take an only LSV over the Mojo any day of the week

I agree that they are quite handsome--and apparently sing like a canary with GSA on them. I saw some non-SG 23LSVs on onlyinboards for a very dece price. There are so many here in the upper midwest its silly.
The 247s out there are older, you would have to go back to 2007/2008. The 23 LSVs can go up to 2012 and still be 60ish.
That Canadian boat is a deal, if you can tolerate the import process and such. I would not necessarily want SurfGate though.
I will say it again: I love boat shopping!!!!

We looked at just about every boat out there before we chose a new Z3. The guys at Eagle Marine in Ft Worth were very helpful. We looked a malibu, moomba, axis, mastercraft and F22. The Z3 was the perfect blend of higher end finishes, without being so high end as to be not useful, and features such as the TAPS3. We were not big on the switching feature however once we rode a few boats with it, it was hard to not go with a boat that had it. This is a great time of year to get a new boat (2016) at a great price since all the dealers are trying to unload them. Based on your price, you can get real close to a new Z3, and you will then have the warranty, dealer support etc that goes with it. To me the peace of mind with the new 5 year warranty was worth a few thousand more vs buying a 2014 or 2015.
With an 8-9 man crew, the Z3 is perfect. Plenty of power and room and the wake is massive. Everyone talks about the perfect wave and there are certainly some boats that are better than others, however between the boats mentioned above, all of them had awesome waves. It all came down to features, warranty, service and space planning for us. We love the cooler and trash can in the tige...I know, it's the little things.... The computer interface is awesome. Not as complex as the Malibu.
We only have 10 hours on our z3 so far and I'm about to pull it for the first service and winterization but we cannot be more happy with it. I did have to deepen our boat slip in the boat house and dredge under the cradle as the direct drive sits deeper than our old Hurricane IO.
I will say that this boat buying experience left us very pleased with the entire boating industry. Every dealer we went to had wonderful service and friendly sales people. If we did not get a Tige we would have selected the Moomba simple because the folks at the dealer were so great. Based on the looks, feature and drive of the boat, Tige earned a long time customer with us....
PS. We also are installing an FAE system next week.
FYI I was just texting with Ryan at GSA. Reiterated that 23LSV is a great GSA boat, along with the previously mentioned MBs. Also said the MC X30 does very well.
I asked what $50K boat he would look for.
Not that you're sold on GSA, but if you want a surf system, it's one of the options aside from DIY slappers or Taps21. I balled to love mine, though
