    Slippery 22Ve transom walk-through

My ski partner and I just demoed the 2006 22Ve. What a boat! We are finicky about our wakes and this boat has a very nice wake. Our regular ski boats are Nautique 196 and 206 so we are familar with the great ski wakes. We ski at 36 mph, 22 or 28 off and this boat matched wakes from dedicated ski boats.

The only negative we saw with the boat was the slide on the transom that Tige refers to as a walk-through. Maybe some one spilled sun tan oil on it but I thought this walk-through was treacherous. I was a bit disappointed because I figured this was a great feature of the boat.

I figure I can put some 3M non-skid tape on it. What do other owners do?

I really like the boat. Prior to the demo I had this boat as my 2nd choice over an undemo'ed Nautique 211. It's now 1st. I'll keep you posted after the 211 demo.

You could use Gator Grip. It is at wakejunky.com. It works great.
I'm on a boat man. I got my flippy floppies....

I have a 24ve with the same walk-through. . I have not had a problem with people slipping. Maybe someone waxed the fiberglass of the walk-though, which would make it slippery.

The dealer detailed our boat before we picked it up, also an 06 22ve. Our walk-through was slick so i figured they waxed it. after a good cleaning w/ Dawn ( dish soap, not the wife ) it's not slick anymore.

We love the walk-through, our filler cusion has not seen daylight since we bought the boat.

Same here. Cushion was simply taking up space in the storage area; now it's taking up the same space in my garage. Haven't had the same issues with the walkthrough transom. Overall, we love the boat!

there must have been something on that walk-through im in 22-24ves all the time and have been amazed at how non-slip they are. so for you to say it was slippery makes me think there was something on there for sure. VE vs CC211 i think you will find the tige wake much better. much more adjustable. i have had people tell me they cant see any difference when they engage the hydro gate on the cc let me know what you think of it. the tige will also handle better ride better and use way less fuel. i also feal the wider beam T-102 CC-93 makes it much more user friendly in the cockpit area and storage areas. and dont forget to post pics of your new tige i know your gona love it!!!!!!

I have to admit I was a bit surprised about how much I liked the 22Ve. Pickup was strong, boat handling was responsive, rough water was a non-issue, and quality/fit/finish was top notch. TAPS is a remarkable feature. I imagine using it not only to shape the wake, but to control ride of the boat when just cruising the lake.

Since you folks are so helpful, my other question is the 2007 stero options. I want the 6 speakers but the stero options are just 4 speakers (none in the bow), 6 speakers with amp and sub, and 6 speakers plus tower speakers. Is there anyway to get the 6 speakers without spending money on the amp and sub?

I would order the boat with no stereo or the basic stereo and get the items added that you want. You should be able to get a better system installed for less most places anyways, or you might even be interested in doing it yourself. Tige pre-wires everything so all you have to do is find the wires under the dash and run speaker wires through the wire hangers that are already glassed into the boat. I have a 22v and we use it in the Gulf of Mexico which can get real choppy real fast and I love the TAPS to be able to adjust the ride. The boat handles the chop better than my Sea Ray sterndrive ever did, which I thought was pretty amazing.

The head unit has enough power to run 4 speakers, but not 6, so you will need the amp to get good volume and quality sound.

You could go with the 6 speaker/sub/amp option from tige or take the boat to a stereo shop and have them install 6 matching speakers and an amp.

If It were me, I would go with the Tige option installed by the dealer. That way, if there are any warrenty issue, let the dealer handle it all. IMO

You can do what I did and have Tige cut the holes for the speakers and then install them yourself. At this point, i've got 6 tweeters, 6 6.5" midwoofers, and 2 10" subwoofers in the boat. Plus I've got 4 coax 6.5" speakers on the tower. All of the speakers are run w/ 12AWG copper wire for efficiency (yes, even the tower... this was a total pain). I'm running approximately 3000 watts.

However- Tigé is using kicker amps, components, and subs now. In fact, the Rz2 that I saw had a 12" solobaric in front of the driver. I'd seriously consider the "tower of power" upgrade.

Trust me, I spent over 15 hours rewiring things last month, when I added tower speakers and new amps. I'll probably be going with the factory setup on my next boat.

Wow I surprised the wakes matched those of the 196 and 206.

I've heard similar reports about the new Ve hull, especially on the 22. They're saying the wake is better than the wake on the Tige direct drives as well. Not sure you'd ever get it better than a flat-bottom 19' ski boat, but it apparently gets pretty close.

Great, I didn't need to hear that! Now you have me thinking I could upgrade from a 20i to a 22Ve.

Any ideas on how I could sell that idea to my wife????
