    Dry bilge in 2016 Z3

So I hate water sitting in my bilge. My Z3 keeps an inch or so unless I spend a lot of time on inclines and messing around. So, I put in an access port. Allows me to vacuum out the half inch or so of sitting water and then run a fan down the bilge. It actually blows under the tank, around the motor, into each side compartment then out where the port and starboard observer seats lift up. I always run a fan for a couple days after a day on the lake and then about 1/2 hour per day.

I found that a 6 inch by 1inch piece of foam cut to the bottom shape set behind the fuel tank keeps all the water in the bilge area, leaving for a quick on off on the ramp and its dry....

For day boaters I'm curious why you have water in your boat in the first place. With the days of water lubricated shafts long gone(thanks PSS) your bilge should be dry.

I'm curious where the water is coming from? That would be of larger concern to me than how to mitigate or remove it.

Well....kids bring a ton of water in. Nothing like watching one just kinda drain a wetsuit leg into the boat Also, the surf wave rolls into the rear hatches and then goes straight into to bilge. Wish Tige had vented those things to the outside rather than into the boat.

Doesn't pulling the plug on the back of your boat get rid of any residual water that would be left?

My 15 Z3 does this as well. When surfing if you immediately stop to pick up the rider you get a little water in the rear transom activity hatches each time. They have drains that end up down in the bilge area. Pulling the plug gets 99.9% of the water out but there is a little depression right behind the gas tank that leaves a little puddle of water.

Nope. Water collects in the middle of the boat, just like my 98 2200V. That boat had a center plug though. I am kinda tempted to put one in this one; however, I am going to see how things go for a while with this setup. Less holes in the hull the better.

I am tempted to route the compartment holes out the transom though.

Maybe I'm lucky. I live in hilly BC so by the time I get home (20min) drive any water that's left is pretty much all gone. It's the carpeted lockers and floor that I have to air out constantly after a day on the water.
