    Hi Cisco Cat

I had the exact same thing happen to me on my 2016 Z1! The welds failed on my Taps 1. In my case, we removed the plate and had it welded locally to allow us to get back on the water same day. Dealer support was great. Just didn't want to wait a week for the part. And the plate will be replaced at the end of the season. What year is yours? Wondering if my taps plates are the latest or whether there's a newer version I should be asking for...

It must be tied into the software somehow. When I was doing all the testing with my ballast early this summer I was curious to know exactly how far the tabs were deployed when I was at 1,2,3,4 etc. Tried moving them in my driveway to test it out and discovered they don't move. Dealers have a way to bypass the software that stops the plates.

The logistics of the software code is way beyond me. I'm assuming..... when you tun the surf mode on it activates the plates and then auto deploys when the boat reaches a certain MPH. Again, this is my assumption. I know that the plates will only deploy in surf mode when the engine is on. Never tried it with a fake-a-lake so not sure if the software needs to detect mph at a certain level to move plates either.

I can move my center taps 2 plate like i've always been able to.

I don't agree with it - though I'm willing to be convinced otherwise - but maybe it's to help with turning at low speeds. Do the plates auto-retract when you come off plane? I've heard it's a bugger trying to turn "against the plates" to go back and pick up a fallen surfer.

Personally, I like technology to do things for me but I want it to be optional. I want the ability to enable and disable it by MY choice. You never know what circumstances are going to come your way, and how you will have to deal with them in real time.

They Taps3 Plates retract back up after you slow down, so turning shouldn't be an issue.
Ask your dealer for their code and you can enter it in on the screen under dealer settings and you can then test your taps3 plates on the driveway!
My dealer did as i broke both of my taps3 plates and one of the taps3 actuators stopped working, much easier to test on the driveway then in the water!

I will take some close up pics of the surf tabs and post them up. Can other people do the same and share what model and year your boat is.

Would be great to see who actually has what style.

Mine is a early model 2016 RZR. Waiting on the new set to arrive. I will take before and after pics if I can figure out how to upload them.

I wish Tige would develop a retrofit system for older style boats. I have a 2011 RZ4 and it will be a very long time before I can get a 2016 with Taps3.

^^There is. A few people on here have already shown dealer installed TAPS 3 plates on older boats. The are run with switches instead of thru the TT 2 screen, but still work the same.

My dealer told me that Tige wouldn't allow retrofit Taps 3. He said that if Tige would allow that then people would just throw Taps 3 on their old boat and Tige wouldn't sale any new boats. Obviously Tige cannot keep people from retrofitting an old boat or adding an aftermarket kit such as the WakeMakers kit, but, I figured they wouldn't allow it to be readily available to retrofit with actual Taps 3 plates.

I'd search on here and message the users who have posted up TAPS 3 retro fits. I can remember one R20 specifically that was dealer installed per the OP.

It surprised me as usually Tige's stance is exactly what you are describing being told.

It is called Research and Development by owner. Tige does it more than others from what I have seen. We can spin it that Tige is not afraid to change something as soon as they see an opportunity for improvement...or we can spin it that they don't fully research things before they release them. Depends on if you are a hater or a lover
Pretty well spot on with the last 2 sentences, LOL and history certainly supports that as well........

You can re mount the strap locations if you dont have a recently finished boat, as for the new boats, boatmate has fixed the issue.

Good to see John @ Redline help you out with that. Really too bad they aren't continuing on with Tige.

I have enough left overs to make another "TAPS 21" kit. Or could easily do more if there is interest.

Transom strap placement is solved. Here is mine. The dealer didn't include these do I just bought and installed them
