    Suck gate on 24V

Just a point of reference to contribute.

    Details:

    *2004 24V with 6
*Standard suck-gate with Amazon parts including the cutting board
*Mounted cutting board at 60 degrees
*Attached to boat below chine and as far back as possible
    *About 1100# in each locker
*Big crew: 8 adults, 1 child
    *Speed set at 11.5mph
    *Terrible windy and wavy conditions
    *6150' elevation

    Results:
*Everyone said the wave was bigger and better than the listed wave - I agree as the "expert" on my boat
(My listed wave is usually a full Enzo sac at 1400# in the port locker with a 400# on the rear of the port seating and maybe another 400# in the bow depending on crew size, rub rail about 1-2" out of the water)
*Sweet spot for cruising was about 4-5' further back
*Steering pulled a little to starboard
*RPM's jumped from around 3200 listed to around 4000!
*No pics (yes I know... that means it didn't happen)

What do you normally run for weight? 4000 rpms is a lot. Probably more then you would want. Maybe look at re-proping the boat.

I created a "suck gate" for my 24V for fun. I got this adjustable design off of a WW but I haven't tested it yet. My hope is that I can keep the boat evenly waited so that I can go from wakeboarding to surfing much faster (since I do not have automated ballast.....yet). I have 2,200# of total fat sacs but I am filling manually.

Thank you for the post and review on your wake. This makes me pumped to try mine!!!

I'd be interested to hear what prop your running as well. I agree with Duffy, a prop change could bring those RPM's down.

My prop is a 13.5 X 14.25 I don't remember the part #. It might be improved on but I bought that one for performance at Powell which is 3100'. The altitude is probably the real issue with the RPM's. If I remember right, this was the largest diameter prop that anyone would recommend for my 2004 boat. I think the pitch is similar to most recommended big wake props.

I've been to the lake again since the first post and had the same basic results. Everyone loved the wake and sitting level is a nice if not necessary feature. I just don't know if its worth the extra gas. I certainly wouldn't run this way if I were at Powell where fuel is hard to get to and expensive to buy. It was $4.69/gal there a few weeks back!
