Getting ready for Lake Mead

Last week my transmission went out while out on the bay...
I pulled out the transmission and ordered the parts to fix it, while doing so I cracked the exhaust so I ordered parts to fix that, then I started to fix everything that is wrong with the boat and one by one I kept on taking more apart and ordering more parts and here is the list so far.

I pulled out all the interrior to get re covered
the speedo's don't work so I pulled the gas tank out to get to the hoses and pressure regulators
the gas gage isn't working so I pulled the float
the bow lights arnt working
the carpeting is coming loose in places so that needs to be re glued
new struts for the engine cover and the rear locker
new anchors in the floor boards for the captains chair
new anchors in the rear locker hinges
wire in a second amplifier because the speakers are under-powered
new throttle
new ram for the taps system

But on the plus side I just did an oil change and the engine is running great. Everything is easily do able in this time frame and most of the new parts have come in and a few have already been installed, the only thing that might take too long is the new upholstery and the is the one thing that is out of my hands and I cant work into the night to get it finished in time.

If anyone knows someone in southern Cali that can do upholstery fast and quality let me know ASAP I am meeting with someone here is San Diego tomorrow to get a price quote and a time frame.

Glad to see you're keeping this old bird running! We are a dying breed but I dig the early gen Tiges! Not to mention I have been doing okay keeping up with the times by doing upgrades every so often! Looking forward to meeting you and best of luck on the upholstery.. While nothing is cheap when it comes to boating.. all the stuff you listed I would need to call a loan shark! LOL. I am sure you are getting better deals doing all the work yourself though! Cheers!

This is the kind of job where I would need my own garage with a lock and key so the wife doesn't know what is going on....Very interested to see the final product. Hopefully you get parts and everything on time to show it off in September.

Get rid of the old worn out purple and getting blue accent.
Also got the transmission put together and mounted in the boat, haven't been able to start it and put it in gear for a test yet.

I don't think you are supposed to put it into gear without the prop shaft submerged in water. That prop shaft bearing needs cooling. I've heard of others at least spraying it with a hose, but I'm not sure that's sufficient?

The interior guy I was going to recommend is gone. How did your other interview go?

I am not going to connect the prop for the test ill leave it off until I know it will shift in and out of gear properly then ill connect it and do a water test.

Interior is pretty dang expensive, The original quote was $3100 but was able to get it down to $1800 no tax and still keep quality, they guaranteed a 2 week turnaround because of the event.

Today was a long day of hunching over but the carpets and side walls look better then when I bought it.

Wow. What all are you getting done for $1800. I'd like my whole boat redone. I was quoted one time about $6k.

I agree with CHP. This seems more of an over the winter project. Congrats to you though man. That's a lot of work before the 16th or so. I'll be keeping track of this thread.
