    Question on Warranty and service

Hey....So I am taking delivery of my Z3 today. It is a 2016, has a little over 20 hours. The prior owner has not taken it in for the 20 hour service yet.

    Couple of questions

    1) The full 5/5/5 warrantee transfers over to me right? I am the second owner

    2) Is the 20hr service free or will I need to pay for it?

    3) Some boats have things like...."all service covered for X years" Does Tige do this? Will I get it as second owner?

    4) What happens to the warrantee if I do some of the maintenance myself? Specifically, I like to do my own oil changes, impeller changes, etc. so I know it's done right and with the right stuff. I've found that any shop is about 80% competent at best....and those are the shops really trying to do good work. Also found they will sometimes use cheap materials/fluids instead of the good stuff. You know, get a $120 knock off alternator from vietnam and then sell it to me for $375....and have it fail within 2 hours. Kinda unbelievable all the crap I have seen over the years...which makes me think some shops hire 7th graders when the volume gets busy.

    Thanks

Ok...since nobody seems to know. I did a little research

    1). 555 transfers over
2). 20 hr service quoted to me for about $245
3). I'm not holding my breath. Probably dealer specific for original owner
4). Indmar says I can change my fluids myself but need to document and hold onto receipts for the fluids

Interesting - thanks for posting that up.

3)I don't know this as 'fact' but I believe Tige stopped covering the "service for 3 years" in 2015.
4)Glad to hear Indmar will honor the warranty if we change the fluids ourselves - I like to do the work myself as well, if at all possible...

State laws. No one is required to have manufacturer or their authorized service outlet, perform service to keep warranty intact. only have to show documentation that it was done. Dont even have to do the service, just show documentation it was done. What they can do, is decline to warranty a repair that is collateral damage prom poor or lack of proper service or from failed component sourced by other means. In other words, if you replace the impeller and it later spins on the hub, run engine hot ans blow it.Blow engine is from your part that failed, not a defect in the engine.

Funny story about "documenting" service work: 2 year old pontiac Le'Mons engine locked up at about 25K miles. Pull stick and pan is full and oil looks clean. pull oil filter and its like tar. Pull valve cover its coated in sludge. owner claims he has changed oil regularly despite no logs in the manual and the fact that the oil filter we removed, was the original black GM filter that ONLY goes on new engines.

Owner took his owners manual and left. returned next day with it completely filled out all with the same color ink. 2 days later, we started replacing the engine under warranty The pen is mightier than the dipstick

You sure about that? Not the ones I have been involved in for sure.
