    Graphics update or not?

I would really like to update the graphics on my 99 2100V by removing the old Tige logo and put on the Tige Chromax emblem many of you have been putting on. I am really concerned however that my gelcoat will be faded when I remove the old decals and I will have ghosting that I won’t be able to get rid of (the boat sits on a lift in the sun all summer). Has anyone else removed these decals from their blue Tiges with success?

Also, is this the same emblem on EBay as Tiges website? ($60 on EBay vs $100 from Tige)

    Thanks

It will ghost. The prior owner of my 98 did that and it was pretty obvious. You could probably buff it out with rubbing compound and an electric buffer but would have to be careful.

Those decals are very different. The one from Tige is bigger and is in 3-D, the Serbian knockoff is flatter and less smooth.

There's no avoiding it, it will ghost, but it's not bad if done correctly. I removed all my graphics and had them redone by a sign company with the newer Tige logo and in new colors (not tan). The ghosting is only perceptible at the transom but that's mostly covered by the boat name. Napa has a rubber wheel that goes into a drill, this is used to remove the vinyl graphics, follow that with machine buff and I think you'll be happy with the results .

Mine is an 04', but was really fadded as well as a distinct line that surrounded the letters once removed. I had it wet sanded and buffed and absolutely no line or could you ever tell there was a decal. It can be done.

Thanks for all of the feedback, that looks great after wet sanding and buffing. Has anyone had success using an oxidation removing buffing compounds or will I need to have it wet sanded?

Thanks for the feedback on the decal as well I will get the actual Tige decal.
