Pro Mariner On Board Charger Check

Well I was having some issues with the mariner charger on my boat so I figured I would crawl back in there and see exactly what the deal is... and here is what I came up with.

The inlet/psas through for the ac plug to where you plug in the extension chord is junk, why Tige would ever use such a cheap POS half *** slide through is beyond me. My chord from the charged constantly slide in and out even with both screws tight around the housing to the plug, it buzzez in and out and loses power constantly. Why they didnt use a 13amp 125v ac port plug is maddening.

So, the fix. Order the above plug, It will both make a nice link to unplug from if need be as well as fix the problem of moving the charger and yanking the plug around in the pass through plug they supply.

I have not used the Noco, but I have experienced the same issue with a similar pro mariner. The extension cord cannot seat deep enough on the prongs, because the body of the onboard outlet, consumes some of their length. The other style pinches the chargers end. Ive seen these want to push out the back when you try to plug in your extension cord.

What I have used for years, is one from MarinCo. It does require you to cut the end off and hard wire it to the terminals on the back side of the prongs. I use an extension cord plugged into the charger on that end and then cut off the other end to wire to the outlet. It also allows me to mount the outlet where i want, not where the cable will reach.
