In our R21, which has Marine Audio head unit and remote components, there is a Marine Audio app that allows you to control the head unit's functionality (rather than adjusting the BT device volume, which is my phone, we are adjusting the stereo's volume settings). Not sure if that is available with the '17 RZX or if that helps the passenger stereo control issue, but I'd be shocked if that nicer/more sophisticated/pricier boat didn't have the same or better functionality.

LCD's work by selective polarization to block their backlight; they have a fixed polarizer and then the liquid crystal layer has its polarization rotated (by selective application of electric fields) to control optical transmissivity.

Moving to an LED based display, such as an AMOLED like is present on many phones and tablets these days, would correct this. LED's emit light rather than block it, so they don't need nor have polarization. You can wear your favorite polarized sunglasses and still see the screen. And not that it matters in this application, but LED based displays are also more power efficient because they only illuminate the pixels actually in use, rather than backlighting everything and then blocking the "off" pixels via crossed polarization.

Bottom line: It's not Tige's fault you can't wear sunglasses.
I am using Samsund Galaxy Note 8 on my boat with Navionics marine charts and the screen is perfectly visible with sunlight and polarized glasses. I don't know exactly how they achived that, but it is possible.

By definition, polarization is angle sensitive. Try this: Hold your glasses in front of your face, look through them at an LCD screen, and turn the glasses so the lenses rotate as you look through them. You'll see that the visibility of the LCD changes from zero to "mostly visible" as the angles of the two polarizers (the one in the screen and that of the lenses) go out of and into alignment.

This is one of many reasons we like to use tablets for our helm systems. Tablets are always on the leading edge of technology, so (AMO)LED displays are available. Completely eliminates this problem.

You could, I suppose, try a bunch of sunglasses until you find some where the polarization angle agrees with your boat's display. Or, you could have a custom set of lenses made by an optician and inserted into your favorite frames, allowing you to control the polarization angle. Sunglass lens blanks are available with zero correction, they would just have to shape them to your frames. Get the blanks, take them home and figure out the angle, mark the edge where "up" is at the proper angle (maximum brightness at your normal sitting position), and let the optician shape and install them at that angle. Voila - you have your dedicated boating sunglasses!

Regarding the screen, im surprised Murphy is not using a viewable screen For the 07 model year, volvo-penta touted a screen for their helm control system that was viewable through polarized lenses.

I will say I could see some images when I looked at it crossways but not head on. It is encouraging to know that another brand of glasses may work. I just wore my Serengetis the next day and was happy as could be. We have a few other polorized pairs around the house I can try. I think the screen is a quality display and it operated well I was just a little bummed in the moment. Especially since I didn't have a different pair that first day.
Never fear, I shall overcome this horrible sacrifice...

With regards to the remote control for the DJ.....Murphy's website lists wireless remote control as a feature
              http://www.fwmurphy.com/products/dis...core-expansion
Also page 12 of the manual tells how to pair a remote
              http://www.fwmurphy.com/uploaded/doc...00-02-0975.pdf
So it looks like it's possible to have an additional remote control. Just need to find out how to obtain one.

I am considering calling Warren a troll. If not, I am hopeful that Tige has contacted him directly and have made his boat whole, and asked him to be quiet about all of these issues.
                  Be excellent to one another.

Yes, but there are 4 panels that are removable that could be painted/ powder coated to color of your choice. Tige may start doing this further along, but not currently an option.

They are only black for now but that is the same as what took place with the Alpha Z tower when it was first launched...they were black for the first few years and then they offered colors I suspect they will do the same.

They are doing away with colors because they are having so many issues on painted towers. The paint is ****, it isn't powder coat and it blows.

My brand new boats paint is chipped and scratched to hell. They are going to repaint it but at the end of the day it's still vehicle stage paint where it should be power as its advertised on the order sheets.
