    1996 tige' pre2100

can anyone tell me what the red cable is laying in my hull that looks like a small steering cable ? the steering cable is black and works fine but there is a smaller red cable that is not connected to anything? this is my first inboard so im not familiar with it all just yet thanks

I have a 1997 pre 2200v. My steering cable is red and I don't see any other cables in this area. Maybe its the old steering cable and they left it in the boat. Its comon to replace steering cables due to corrosion. Can you pull the cable out and look at the end of the cable to see the type of connection?

Now that makes more sense because the shift/throttle cable looks new and yesterday when i took these pix i traced the cable back through the engine bay i saw where it was wedged under the ski pylon and i couldn't move it so the previous owner probably just left it . thanks for the help

                  mufflers on 1996 tige pre2100

Does anyone know of or if its possible to delete the fiberglass mufflers and run 3'' stainless or aluminum in their place to get the exhaust to open up and sound better ?

Yes - I did it on a 22v. It was extremely loud - I would suggest if you do it, put an FAE on it. FAE will make it very quiet, which I'm not sure that is what you are looking for...

Did you have them made or purchase them prefabbed ?

FAE does the mufflers as well.

Yes, FAE built the mufflers for me. I took him the broken fiberglass ones and he matched the stainless pipes!

I recently replaced them with straight wet exhaust and 90 degree reducing bends.
