Has anyone used an Acme 2079?

As I keep loading up my poor little Z1 with the PCM343, I am finding that my 1433 propeller still isn't quite enough. With the Wake9 bags it is okay, but if I add a gate or a tab, I can already tell a better prop will be needed.

I'm curious if anyone has run a 2079, and what they think of it. I sent my query off to Acme, and this is the prop they suggested. In general, I never go faster than 25 MPH, and spend most of my time under 12 MPH. So torque is the thing I want most.

Lotsa 2079s in use on MBs, generally people love them! I am propped WAY down on mine too, it's so much less of a struggle for the boat.

2079 is good....but It revs too high IMO.

I have found great results with the 2315 or 2313. Lower RPM and 1/2" wider..

I have trailer clearance concerns, so I'm not sure a 15" will work for me. I'm pushing it to get to a 14.5". I'd be curious how much a half inch changes things. Testing a variety sure would be insightful.

Technically is 1/2" wider in diamater. thats only 1/4" radius.

I run my 15 Z3 stock prop to a 2313 and it is awesome!

I'm comparing from my current 1433 which is a 14". I could probably squeeze in a 15" prop.... however I also don't know how close the prop should get to the hull. Not sure what the max prop size is on a 2013 Z1.

You could try a Acme 1617. Still a 14" prop but if i remember right its a little more aggressive than a 1433. or even try a 1235, basically the same specs as a 1433, but a 14.5 inch

If you do upgrade and decide to get rid of your 1433 let me know, i'd be interested in it. I currently run a 1235 and i have a 537 as a backup. I'd like to keep a more aggressive prop around as a spare in case i have issues. My 537 won't cut it if i'm loaded right up.

I loved my 1617 on my RZR. Z1 is bigger boat of course but it pulled like a semi when loaded down here in Denver. Food for thought

Call ACME and talk to them. I upgraded to the 1273 for my 24ve; had a 20 minute consultation with the ACME guy and he suggested this prop over the 1235 for my use for both low end and top end. He knew our boat, hull shape, engine...then asked what we normally did when we went out, altitude, speed, crew size..... I called from the car on speaker phone after I hit a log with my 537.... and my wife was amazed at how much info the ACME guy asked, and how we discussed the different props and what they could do. I have been very satisfied--esp when surfing.

I had to shim my trailer up; the old 537 had about 3/4 inch clearance, but the new 1273 had only 1/4. I put boat in water, took trailer out and bought 5/4 treated lumber in 6 and 8 foot lengths; took off old bunks, screwed new lumber to the bottom, flipped them around and re-lagged the lag bolts. This works better with 2 people--one to hold the lumber and one to lag-but figured out I could put a screw temporarily through hole in front while I lagged in back of the bunk. Then put new lag bolt where the screw was to hold it in place.

I got the 537 fixed so I now have a spare that I carry in weekend saver kit from WakeMakers so the next time I wreck a prop I'll be prepared.
