Is a 2012 tige r20 the boat for me ? Some questions

Not real knowledgable on boats. Have a old 17 foot 3 litre in out board bow rider know. Need more power and more room. This boat is great for the local lakes I will use it on. Problem is family has a cabin on a large lake that gets rough at times. Also we sometimes want to cruise down the lake for the day and Be able to pull up on shore. Is this boat or any inboard surf boat able to do this. Worried about damaging the prop and fins. Already damaged my prop a couple times on the in out board( most because or being careless and new to boating) what do you guys think.
Have been looking at jet boats for this reason but love the idea of the tige 20 and the surf capability. We have not surfed before so not sure how important that is to us.

On a lake with a sandy/mud bottom, sure! I beached my 22ve on a number of times. However, there are ways to anchor the bow out and back the stern in to waist deep water and tie off to shore. No beaching the keel.

How is your boat handling this lake now? Larger boats always handle better. One thing to keep in mind. Your 17ft boat likely includes an integrated swim platform. the 20ft R20 does not includes the platform, so the weted surface is actually going to be more than the 3ft difference in advertised lengths.

I came from a Tahoe Q4 19.5ft bowrider with a 4.3L V6 to a 22i. Would I do it again? Absolutely. The Q4 was really 18ft once you removed the integrated swim platform, so I gained 4ft As far as gas usage, it only uses slightly more than the V6, but is more efficient once you load up the people and gear. The ride is actually much better on the 22i than the Q4 but not as good as some other bowriders that I have been on, but that is the nature of tow boats. Give a little on ride to make tow sports better.

You are going to be doing some more "learning" with the R20--rocks are no good. Shallow Beaches are no good. Big waves are no fun. Everything else is great.

We have a 2013 R20 on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH. Lake gets very rough and we have to be careful. I would not beach it. I don't think you need a ton of weight or huge boat to surf. The R20 is just fine with stock ballast and the 5.0L PCM engine. Plenty of power.
