I'll try to make this long story short.
We bought our boat where we live in Vancouver BC but we use it at Shuswap Lake - 300 miles away. There is a Tige dealer 500 metres from us (Captain's Village) but they won't touch the boat because we didn't buy it from them. We have been using a local mechanic who started out great but has begun to let us down consistently. His last failure was to give us back our boat without re-attaching one of the ballast lines. We put the boat in the water and began filling - but of course we were swamping the boat.
This fouled the blower, the bilge and finally the starter.
The boat was towed across the lake to another marina to have their mechanics deal with it. They can't figure out how to get the starter out without raising the engine. Our previous mechanic (the one who now lets us down) swapped it on our dock in a couple of hours. The new guys say it will take 8 because of lifting the motor.
I sent them Tige's number after Harvey at Tige told me it can be done without raising the motor - so hopefully they will get some guidance.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Can it be done without the motor being raised?
I also have seen mention of moving the starter so it no longer lives in the bilge. Does anyone have experience with this?
Thanks in advance for the guidance! Gotta get back to surfing!
