White or Apple Cider Vinegar For Cleaning?

I tried adding a bit of wax (Zymol) to my vinegar and water solution and it started streaking pretty bad. I only added 2-3 drops in a pretty small spray bottle, so it was probably only like 47.5% water, 47.5% vinegar, 5% wax.... If even that much wax. I shook it and shook it. It had a very faint blue tint to it and suprisingly had a non-offending smell to it. But non the less... it streaked

I just make my friends help me wax the boat before a big weekend. The day before we go out on the water for the first time, I drag everyone to the car wash... wash her down quickly, give everyone a few chamois's and we all dry er off. Then everyone gets a wax pad and we all go to down waxing it by hand. Then everyone gets a towel and we wipe off the wax. Usually done in 10 mins from start to finish w/ about 6 people working... of course there are 4 or 5 other idiots standing there watching...lol. Of course, those idiots wonder why I give everyone else a small break on gas!

I used zymol on my truck a few years ago after I read a good review from consumer reports. I followed the strict directions to a "T". It left streaks all over even after continuous buffing. It was the worst waxing experience I've ever had. Very hard to use. I ended up writing them and getting my money back. Since then I've pretty much used McGuire's with good results. Very easy to use but after a week of daily waterspots and wipedowns, I don't feel much wax left. Do any of these other waxes hold up to a week worth of water spots?

Hey guys...thanks for all the replies. I called Tige and spoke with the Warranty Manager--Andrew Rayes. I called to talk to him about a warranty issue and we ended up having about a 30 minute conversation. I can't speak highly enough about him. He will tell you straight up even if it is something you don't want to hear. In fact, I got a few of those responses. He is a long time employee of the company (I think he has been around since the beginning, but I'm not sure) and seems to know these boats backwards and forwards. If you have a question, I highly recommend you call him because he made extra efforts to make things very clear for me. He is a real straight shooter.

One of the many things we discussed was cleaning the boat. The water/vinager method was what he recommended.

My boat was VERY dirty with dirty, TX lake water dried on for more than 2 weeks, followed by a 7 hour drive home, and a weekend on our local lake. The water/vinegar solution, mixed 50/50, make the boat shine like it was brand new. I wanted to wax afterward, but was quickly running out of daylight, so I rewet and dried with a "wax as you dry" product. The boat looks AWESOME.

Knowing the water/vinegar solution strips wax, I only wanted to use it to get the boat clean this one time. Now that the boat is clean, I plan to use the "wax as you dry" each time I pull it out of the water and will do a full on wax job at the end of the season. Hopefully, this will keep the boat looking nice and keep it protected.
