RZX at 12 - 13 MPH, Huge and Hard

So we have been playing around with the RZX with the same weight setup, but going faster, Thomas normally rides 12MPH but he and Hunter Clement started this little AIR challenge and the speed got up to 13. The wave gets a bit washy at the top because it was very windy, but it cleans up if you start at 11.8 or so, and slowly get to 13, giving the boat time to settle. If you don't do that, you start to plane a bit and it gets a bit washy, but geez. The wake doesn't get smaller, just longer, and you can feel that convex hull SUCK down and the RPMS jump in a non linear way, I think when the boat is at this speed between 12-13, is the max coanda effect, and its touchy, if you don't ease it to 13, the suction breaks and it will try to plane and get smaller. The wake was huge, and so hard you can see when hunter lands, the water doesn't "open up" but it JOLTS him. When you go faster like this, you get ridiculous speed and your board releases from the water much cleaner. Check it out.

Can you tell me what your set-up for your RZX is?

Also, I'm wondering if you have adjusted the surf taps position on the plate itself at all? Mine came from the factory in the middle position but I'm wondering if I move it to the inside position if that will provide additional list without weight added??? Any thoughts??

Here is a picture of mine. I believe my setting would make it go down a bit LESS than the other 2. I did try the others, didn't seem to be any real difference and left the way it came.

Keep in mind that our RZX is serial #1 for the RZX, it was the test platform and prototype. The hull is identical, and the plates are the same, but there could be minor differences. I have not seen anything that would make me thing that there is something new that would make the wave different than ours. For instance, I fill my extra bags up manually, but if you buy one now, they are plumbed in.

The only real difference in my setup, is my bags are 100 lbs heavier in the rear corners, but when we have a lot of people, we don't fill up the stock all the way, the extra 100 really just helps when you are light on people.

I also put 200 lbs of lead in the bow, I use the leadwake.com bags which I love. Those bags are great for small adjustments like that. I found that weight in the front helps a bunch.

The key is to list only to 2-3 degrees on the regular side while surfing on calm water at about 11.4 MPH, TAPS3 all the way down and taps2 at 3 or so to start. I never take TAPS3 out of the 1 position, just adjust TAPS2. TAPS3 at the other positions makes the shape more rolled over, more like a centurion or supra wave, but you may like that.

The goofy side 4-5 degrees of list. For all intents and purposes, its level, its basically an almost imperceptible amount of list, but that is all it takes, and all of the videos above are done this way. So for instance on goofy or regular, if you are at 1 degree less list than I recommend, you may notice a dirty lip or a cut in the wave, either move people (first choice) or take OUT opposite side weight until it cleans up. JUST when it cleans up is the best wave IMHO. And you will find that to be at 2-3 on regular and 4-5 on goofy.

The RZX doesn't like speeds below 11 unless you take weight out, it will be too short and steep with that weight setup. 11.2 to 12 is great, I would say 11.4-11.6 is the sweet spot for most people.
