2011 RZR - Touch Screen not responding $2,400?

My 2011 RZR touch screen has been finicky over the last year, but finally decided to stop responding to all to all touches this year. Everything boots up and I can get to a few things via buttons, but can't fill bags or do the majority of the things I need to do. Oddly I can hit my star button and it will take me to cruise control, and it kinda works on touch screen things there.

I took it to my dealer, and got a quote of $2,400 bucks to replace the unit. I find this a little insane since everything in the computer system works, but it's just the touching that isn't working.

Of course, this isn't under warranty because I'm a second owner, even though I paid to have the warranty transferred.

Anyone have any input here? I was planning on selling at the end of the year, to upgrade to an RZX, and feel this is a little steep...

To be completely honest with you, I am surprised it is "only $2400". I work in the Agricultural Industry (which by the way is larger than the boating industry) and the majority of the touch consoles in the tractors, combines.... are in the $4K-$6K range from what I have been told from clients. Fortunately what we do, does not require this. Based upon the volumes being smaller in the boating industry, I was assuming these screens would be in the $3-4K range. Does this quote of $2400 include the labor to swap it, or is it parts only.

Cost sounds about right. I'm with Dandy, knowing what I know, surprised it isn't more. Especially considering what those old 4 bottom Tige cruise panels cost, that fail regularly.

Many have said its a matter of time before all these fancy expensive tech things start to fail. Yours is the first I have heard of, but I am sure it won't be the last.

Hence why I REALLY like the idea of IDboating's waketouch helm control.

              What's IDboatings helm control??

My issue is the whole thing works. It's the touch screen part from medallion that needs to be replaced.

Basically, it's like I crack my screen On my iPad Pro, and instead of a $100 fix, they say you have to buy a whole new iPad.

Why can't I use the hard Button directional arrows on the right to navigate through the options on Tige touch??

Sorry didn't mean to derail your thread. A user on here, IDboating, developed a helm control system that can use a tablet that his is selling or sold to one of the big OEMs. Instead of a proprietary touchscreen, it's just an app on a table that's installed.

its not available for sale.... yet...... hopefully someone bought it from IDboating and will release it for older boats that will have these expensive replacements.

I had to replace mine on my 2011 RZ2. They can be expensive. And mine was after replacing Medallion box and fuse panel. I think at some point there will have to be an aftermarket app or something to replace prod units as the electronics get older. Otherwise resale will go south.

Or they bought it to prevent it from being available so they can still control the price of their expensive proprietary models....

This may sound funny, but have you cleaned it thoroughly and checked that the connections on the back are good? When I say clean, I don't mean with just a cloth but with some good windex or glass cleaner and thoroughly clean it?

I had some problems once and I cleaned it all the time with a towel, but it made a difference to use windex, it really helped. I still ended up having to replace it, but its something you may try.

I I had a new RZ2 2011 that had the same problem when I bought it. The problem with mine was the plastic cover was touching the screen in such a way that it thought it was being pressed. Try removing the plastic panel and see if it works then. I'm sure your dealer told you this, but there are rocker switches under the dash that allow you to fill ballast, operate bilge etc.

My new 2015 Z3 has this issue as well when the battery is low, after it charges for a while while cruising down the lake it usually corrects itself.
