    2006 20v

    I purchased a 06 20v last year with only 80 hrs. We constantly have issues with motor going into limp mode when we hit large wakes, very frustrating for wake surfing. anyone have a fix for this?

    How do you get it out of limp mode once this happens?

      Start with the code being triggered putting it into limp mode

      In most cases, shutting down the boat and starting it back up, until the condition occurs again.

        how do I check the code? yes turning boat off and back on resets it.

          Mike (chpthril) may know of another better way but I'm thinking you would need to get a diagnostic unit (looks like an old calculator with an LCD screen and will plug into the maint port on your engine. It's possible you could borrow or rent one. It should show you any recent codes with a short description or you may have to look up the code on the WWW. In the past, when I had an issue with my boat I made arrangements with my local marine mechanic and he took 5 minutes to plug in his diagnostic unit and check the code.

          Just thinking about what you describe sounds like something electrical is getting knocked loose and causing a sag (or spike?) in voltage, possibly in the ECM or ignition system. The code may be helpful and certainly would be a good first step.

            You will need a MEFA code reader. Once you know the code you can go through the diagnostic steps in order to isolate the root cause.

              Most codes can as actually be pulled with just an led and a switch. Take a look here.

              This only works on certain mefi revisions but I think your year would be fine.
