Gotcha! I guess it feels like I ordered it yesterday. Oh how the summer blows by... But I still think 2-3 weeks is pretty quick. My Z3 took 5-6 weeks back in 2013.

I have a 2013 Z3 and I am considering a 2017 rzx but after reading some info on the forums I'm having a hard time with paying that much for a boat that doesn't produce an automatic great wave. i shouldn't have to "fiddle around" with extra ballast on a boat that expensive. Is everyone being too picky about the pursuit of the perfect wave or does the RZX really need that much help? With 3K of ballast it should be automatic. I use one 700lb bag on the floor now (with stock surf ballast) and we have a great time. I like my Z3 a lot but I would like to spend less time on the water messing with bags and just go have fun. I also hate having to empty my lockers to fill up my ballast and have jackets and floats laying around plus having a big bag on the floor. But what I'm reading suggests I may have to do that anyway. Another $30k and I still have all the extra hassle? I don't know. I'm going to test one (a 2016 model) but I must say I don't feel too confident. I was reading up on the g23 and it seems those boats are just fill it and go.
I test drove the 2017 RZX3 that was used for the brochure photo shoot on Saturday and spent an hour and a half driving and riding behind it immediately after driving a 2016 Z3 for a couple of sets. IMO, there isn't any comparison between these 2 boats. If you can afford the RZX3, you should not even look at a Z3. The RZX3 drives so much better than the Z3 that it isn't even funny! The handling between the boats isn't even close. This was a Raptor 440 model at altitude so I didn't try out any wakeboarding but the surf wave required no modifications to get a better wave than the Z3 that I rode behind. I set the ballast up as I was told to by Tony and just surfed it. I don't think I am supposed to post the ballast #'s for 2017 so I will hold off on that but I will say that it's more than 2016.

I drove a 2016 G23 last October and the RZX3 is very close in the way that they drive other than the fact that I could just pull off of the throttle and not have everyone on the boat get soaked from a massive wave coming over the transom.

**EDIT: Sorry, I didn't read through the whole thread first to see that you already drove and ordered a 2017. Congrats on your purchase! That is a sweet boat!**

              Timmy!

Awesome! Now I really can't wait! I bought the 2017 after driving the 2016 and just seeing a few pics of the '17 on the salesman's phone. I must be insane for doing that ($$$$$) and not even seeing the boat in person first but what can I say. I completely agree on the driving manners of the RZX. It takes a country mile to turn the Z3 around at idle in our marina area. I can never do it. I have to back up several times to get it around but the RZX spun around super easy. I don't know why but it was a positive surprise for sure. Under power it handled smaller than it is but felt more stable than the Z3. ??? I'm very happy to hear your assessment of the surf wake. I felt the same but I'm far from an expert. At first while I was standing next to the driver I looked back and thought, "meh, it looks ok." My 18 year old son, however, was sitting on the back deck and his eyes told a different story. So I went back there and then it looked huge. Optically, from the driver's position you can't see down to the water like you can on the Z3 so it didn't look big but when you get to the back you realize how deep the boat is and how far down it is to the water and everything changes. I can't wait to get my financially broke fingers on her this weekend.
It'll probably rain all weekend or be 35 kts. of wind.
Thanks for the post. I'm getting more pumped every day!!

Thanks. I will miss my Z3. I have many incredible memories on that boat. And for all I'm spending for this one I must say I always felt like I had one of the best boats on the water. The Z3 is a cool, solid, eye catching wake machine. I'm very proud to have owned it. I babied that thing and I hope the next owner has the same experiences with it. One thing is for sure, they are going to get a virtually perfect used boat.

I'm definitely buying one when they get all the weight figured out..... I know a few guys who have had to add 500 plus to get them to their potential or atleast for it to be a debatable jump from the z3 for the money....

The storage for me is a no brainer... It's what I dislike about the z3...

Wave for wave though I really want something to compare against. My buddies rzX isn't close to right weight wise and my z3 slammed with lead taps3 is the boat we all surf on...

So what is the total ballast on a 17?Since people have ordered them it's not really a secret anymore.

Sadly, I'm going to admit I don't know the final figure on the ballast for the '17. All I know is the wave stock for stock is much better on the RZX over my Z3. Also, I did not have taps3 on my Z3 so that was and added benefit. I guess I'll know more on Friday night when I pick it up. I do know that tige has done the photo work on the new ones so maybe they are going to release everything soon.

So, I am seeing hints about an RZX1, RZX2 and RZX3 in various places...21, 22 and 23ft models??? Different level of included features??? What's the story?

I saw that reference to an RZX3 in a prior post myself but during my purchase there was no mention of that. I think my purchase is a little ahead of the media curve. Since the first '17s are coming off the line now I expect a media rollout would coincide. I do have a production pic from last week of my boat almost finished but for a few cosmetics and testing. Here you go. image.jpg

I believe that the boat I drove had 4,000 lbs with 500lbs in each locker as a plug n play. I don't know if that is the final number or not, it might be more, might be less?

I believe they are still at 3k, with an additional 500 in each rear locker via Plug and Play that your dealer or you will do, for a total of 4k.. This is due to some safety regs that they comply with.... Thats not 100% factual, but should be what we are seeing out in the field......
