New Tige's and garage doors

I searched and found some of the older threads but wanted revisit to see if anything has changed....do ANY of the new Tige's fit in a 7ft tall garage door with the tower down?

My 2013 Z1 fit through my 7' door but it took some effort. We literally had to hang on the tower to sneak it in. Some guys have also had to take air out of the tires. However my trailer is lower than most (it causes me all sorts of other problems)

The 2013 Boatmate trailer issue was an issue with the clearance between the prop and the prop guard. The bunks were not high enough for the prop to clear. The issue was not with the trailer to the ground, but the boat to the trailer. A simple 1" shim kit fixes this issue. So, the boat sitting the 1" lower on the trailer would allow a slightly lower door, if it was that close.

The best thing to do it physically see the boat on the trailer and take measurements. Each dealer/region may source their trailer from a different manufacturer which will change the height of the overall rig. In addition to that, the tire size on the trailer will also make a difference in this overall height. There are alot of variables with this.

Yes. So I would assume any newer Z1s or Z3s would be slightly taller. As I recall the measurement on my door was 82". Also watch for the wheels. The fancy wheels will be a bit taller.

Yeah I know...just sucks because there aren't many Tige's in our area. Even my dealer doesn't have any on the floor yet...the wife and I are swing by a Nautique/Malibu/Axis dealer and I'm going to measure an A20 while I'm there...that seem t be one of the only ones that advertise trailer height....

I keep my 15' Z3 trailer in a garage...I'm not sure I could get the boat in there on the trailer with a 7' door even if I took the wheels off and dropped it on casters.

One more thing to consider is width. Keep in mind that width of the door could be an issue. The R20 is 7'10 wide, which most likely would not go into an 8' wide door, considering door trim and the guide poles on the trailer. Other than the R20/RZR, the rest of the line up is 8'6" wide.

Sorry should have specified...this is going into the 2 bay wide side of a 3 car garage....once inside we have 14 ft ceilings...its just clearing the stupid doorway height wise that's annoying..once inside I can raise the tower no problem....

Several buddies raised their garage door headers to put a taller doors in. Might be an option for you.

Another thing to consider is the angle of your driveway. The more angle, or pitch or grade or whatever you want to call it, the more height it will require. In my old house my boat technically fit through the door. However, it was a fairly steep driveway. This meant that as the boat went in, the height of the hitch got higher and higher as I went up the driveway. Long story short, I had to put an 8" drop hitch on and let the air out of the tires to squeak the tower under the door.

So my current tower (Indy) is still a bit too tall when folded to fit under the garage opening...I wonder if I grabbed a drop hitch and lowered the hitch as low as possible just for backing into the garage if it would buy me the few extra inches I need to clear the opening....

My driveway isn't crazy sloped but it does slope down/away from the house....I never thought to do that...Does it make that much of a difference?

I suggest just putting in a taller garage door. If your door is new you may just be able to buy a single door panel insert and be done.

It's a brand new house as of March 2016 so the door would be good to go...the header actually runs all the way across (at a heightened level as well..I took pics during the pre-drywall meeting) but I don't think the wife will be happy about spending $2k+ on a brand new garage door to fit my $60k+ new boat lol...who knows...maybe...

Here is a pic of the house before the driveway was poured....Can't tell from the pic but there is definitely a slope away from the house...I might pic up a 9-10" drop to see if it helps the tow point clear the opening....

Did you just unbolt the base and fill it with helium balloons?
