    Lil' Wake Surfer

For anyone with smaller kids wanting to get up on their own we had some success with my 6 year old utilizing a tube. He's now hooked and won't stop asking to go.

Pretty simple: put mom in the water to hold tube down/steady and position board/feet placement (last one is important), nice easy/slow pull since kid is already "on top" of the board, cheer him/her on.

Now that he's used to getting up we will reposition his feet so he can stay up longer and actually drift back into the wave.

4 year old says she's trying next weekend....

GREAT POST! The smile on Mom's face in the second pic and his smile in the last are just priceless. People wonder why all of us love boats and why we spend so much $$$ on this stuff and this post pretty much justifies all of it! These memories are priceless.

Way to get them started early. Hopefully they will still let you have some time behind the boat.

That's a great idea for my 5 year old. Now I just need a boat and a tube and I'll be set!

Spot on! As far as I'm concerned it's the best family activity there is.

I think I saw a thread on here last year (it might be from years prior) where somebody posted youtube videos of them using a tube to get kids up. It was an awesome thread but I cant seem to find it again. Definitely a great idea.

If I remember correctly they tie the tube to the opposite side cleat and the tube just trails behind after the kid gets up.

This is a GREAT idea! Tying the tube off to the opposite side, so it swings out of the way and you don't leave someone in the water, is also brilliant. Can't wait to try this with one kid in particular that has struggled to get up on the board. Great post!

Fantastic! Unfortunately - I do not think my local lake / river authorities (SJRA) will allow us to keep a person in the water like that...too temping for them not to issue citation for "reckless endangerment"

For what it's worth the wife takes an orange skier down flag to hold and sits up in the tube after the kid is off. We also always do it exclusively when it's calm/not busy and close to a dock or shore so she can get away from any potential boat traffic.

Oh, and one more advantage of leaving the tube with mom rather than tying it to the boat.... Can put a small cooler in there with some beers....

I cant believe your not allowed to just float around on the lake in a tube. Love the post and a great idea. We have anchored large four person tubes and done this for surfer and wakeboarders works great.....and yes you can put a cooler on it

As a side note those ske pal tubes are crazy. We had three hooked up a few years and I blew out my mcl in a major crash

Going to have to try that one. I sat in the water and just pushed my son up this weekend. He loved it once he went for a while.
