The Tsunami and broadcast are both considered a mas-produced shape. I dont think that move would net the results you hope. I ride a Tsunami 4.9, although an older model, and like it. Cant count the number of people ive taught to surf on it. I ride with no front fin and center fin out, leaving outside rear fins. That works for me.

If you can find one, grab an Inland Surfer Red Woody. I have an RZ4. With 5-6 people and ZERO ballast I can ride continuously without a rope. Not a great board for doing tricks....just a "longboard" for taking it easy. Nice n mellow.
Less people in the boat I will fill a 750lb bag and still gets the job done.
Edit: I'm also 6'4" 215 lbsBad decisions make good stories.

I have a broadcast. Its a budget friendly beginner board that pretty easy for me to teach on. Plus not too worried about anyone hurting it. I can go rope-less easy on my little wave with it and I'm about 175lb. On a good day I can let my son (38lb) ride with me rope-less. Key is to get your boat/ballast figured out. If you cant get any more ballast right now case of beer ensures people will be your ballast pretty easy. Also all about how your are riding the board as well. Until you have it figured out little bit of movement goes long way. I have seen some amazing waves put out by a 24ve. It is on my upgrade list in a few years so I know you can get it dialed in.

The trick is that this is a BIG hull, which needs a LOT of ballast. We have a huge fully custom fat sac on both sides and we fill the surfing side all the way up to get started. Then the offside gets several hundred pounds as well. As a general rule, you should have as much weight as possible on the surf side, and then enough on the offside to sink the swim platform on the offside a few inches below the water. TAPS 2-4, never higher; the lower TAPS settings tend to clean up the lip. Speed anywhere from 10.8 to 11.4, with faster yielding a more aggressive wave and slower being gentler for beginners. More bow weight for starboard side, less for port.
I'd say we have a surfable length of ~15 feet behind our 24Ve, which starts about 5 feet off the transom. My 14YO son can recover from so far back on the wave that you'd swear it's impossible. So there's "push" over a huge region back there. Literally everyone who has surfed behind our boat says it's the biggest and most powerful wave they've ever been on. A few prefer the *shape* from other boats, and that's fine, but nobody has ever said it was wimpy! So the potential is in your boat... you probably just need more ballast. And then more. And then even more. We can probably put 2500+ pounds on either side of ours, and even then sometimes we toss an extra 400 pound fat sac on the seats just for kicks when we have a small crew (i.e. just our family of three).
I still like the idea of some lead. Might end up buying 500 or so lbs but that will be a winter project.
