Garden hose directly to cooling water system?

Getting my "fake a lake" under my trailer and on my Z1 is a PITA. Has anyone piped your garden hose directly into the cooling system at the strainer? Before the engine starts, the pressure builds to that of the house water system. Will that water pressure from the hose damage anything in the cooling water circuit (gaskets, etc).

Any other clever ideas to avoid the hassle of the "fake a lake"?

I built one of these with parts from Home Depot pretty soon after I purchased the boat ('07). I turn the hose full blast before starting and have never had an issue.

Thanks for the replies. I built my own too but didn't get my clamps tight enough and it blew apart when I turned the hose on. That's what got me thinking about potential damage from the pressure.

I just screwed one of those cheap garden hose ball valves at the end of my hose right before it screws into the strainer, open it slowly to keep pressure down but still put water in the system and then crank the engine over. Once engine is running I fully open the valve at the end of the hose and haven't had any issues yet. Prob not the best way but it works for me.

Good idea with the ball valve at the end of the hose to control the pressure / flow. I think I'll add that to my setup.

Your boat cost how much??? Repairs cost how much??? By the proper set up for under $200 bucks install if you have the know how or pay a couple bucks and have it a done and never look back.

You can also make an attachment similar to the attached picture (less the ball valve) and attach to where the raw water intake attaches to the motor. This is what i've been doing. I also found the fake a lake a pain. I do plan on putting in a strainer with hose attachment in the future.

When I winterize I just stick the hose in to a bucket which I keep filling with the RV Antifreeze.
