FYI, Sitting on the back may be illegal, it is in some states. Also, the angle down if the rope is going to be in decapitation range.

I'm pulling teenagers mostly - so 2-4 kids of 75-120 lbs.
Along with that I don't allow ppl to be on the rear transom while under tow as its just unsafe IMO. I don't need anyone hurt on my watch but that's just the way I operate my boat so take it FWIW. I agree the rear eyelet tow hook straps as listed above are a great alternative for rear towing.

FWIW, on the latest tower on Nautique boats, the warning sticker doesn't mention not towing inflatables, just about ski pyramids, parasailing and more than 2 people at a time. There is no real ski pylon, but a lower transom tow point that is about parallel with the lifting rings. So tubes are expected. I have pulled a 5 man banana boat without worrying about it, and been fine so far.
As said above, I worry most about a submerged tube...my banana boat is too floaty to ever submerge. I have put way more stress one time when a one person towable was getting low on air and submerged, the entire boat just slowed down from the drag. If I had a pylon, I would use it for sure.Be excellent to one another.
