Bugs under the cover

I need some suggestions for a way to control bugs under the boat cover. The boat stays on a lift on the water. A ton of gnats are always under the cover. Then they get smashed on the seats.

Any advice on keeping them out and keeping the boat from smelling like moth balls?

I don't have that problem, all my dead bugs are on top of the cover. I think its because my cover is well patrolled by dock spiders!

I put a handful of mothballs in a Lays potato chip can. Then cut some slits in the lid and place it on the floor. So far I have had no issues with bugs or spiders.

I have exact same problem but apparently not enough spiders. Just enough to make webs across my walkway. I will try the mothball trick. thanks been looking for a solution to this problem.
