So, I purchased my boat Jan. 2015 from a dealer down in Alabama. The boat was sold under consignment and the shop had just replaced the block on the boat due to the previous owner not winterizing the boat properly. Thankfully the block came with an 18 mo warranty after purchase of the boat.
Not sure if you guys remember but at the end of the season last year the engine hydrolocked the very last time out. Well, the shop I take my boat too cleared it out, ran it, etc and then put it up for the winter. They also dropped it in the tank and ran it up to temp before I picked it up this spring just to make sure everything worked from last fall. Obviously it checked out for them and I grabbed the boat. Well, we dropped it in the water over memorial day weekend and I didn't get it past the no wake bouy before the temp gauge started to climb....I quickly turned around and coasted back to the dock and shut her off.
Dropped the boat back off at the shop..hey contacted the warranty company that the new block was covered with and the company authorized my shop to dig into the engine to see what was going on....After pressure testing the exhaust manifolds, head, etc they determined that it's something wrong with the block and the warranty company agreed that it needs replaced. They told my shop to stop diagnosing the old engine and that they will send a new crate motor out since that will be cheaper to replace than swapping all the old parts to the block, etc.
Anyway, I haven't spoken with the warranty company yet but I'm being told that since it is now officially a warranty claim that is covered, I will now be the one dealing with the warranty company. I BELIEVE the company was ATK or something along those lines...anybody have any experience with something like this? Any good questions to ask, issues to push, etc?
